BENEFITS

SEPTEMBER 13, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Before starting most jobs, I would have a talk with the Human Resource Director. I would hear what my job was going to be, the building I would be working in, who my supervisor would be, and so on. Then we would get to the good stuff. MONEY! I mean really, that is the reason I was there. First, I was told of my wage, overtime pay, unemployment, etc. Then they told me about my benefits. I would receive so many paid sick days, a profit-sharing program, paid insurance, holidays paid, 401K package, and more. WOW, Benefits! I like that. Benefits were something extra that the company was not required by law to give me, but they are adding them in to what I receive. Not only promising it to me, but they also wrote it in a contract with me that they have to live up to. At this point, I have done nothing to deserve any of these benefits. Nevertheless, they believe I am going to work for them, so they are willing to give me benefits.

When I was saved, I asked God to free me from sin, cleanse me from unrighteousness, and come into my heart. I believed that the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God, paid the price for my sinfulness. His Word promised if I believed in Him, He would save me, and He did. Then came all the benefits! Not only did He save me, and give me a home in heaven, but He also put joy in my heart, which cannot be explained. He gave me peace of mind and a song in my heart. He has given me wisdom to handle daily affairs, as well as a new purpose and direction to live for. He has taken old habits, freed me from their bondage, and given me freedom to live for Him. All of the extra stuff I did not deserve. He wrote them all down in His Bible to show He would keep His word. BENEFITS!

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

What a joy it is to know Jesus loves us and wants us to receive all these benefits. The saved life is more than hope for tomorrow, it is peace and joy today. It is more than just salvation from hell, it is LIFE. Not just a life to come, but real life NOW. God daily loads us with BENEFITS!

Are You A Lone Ranger?

SEPTEMBER 11 & 12, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 11:14Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

“I’ll make it on my own! I do not need your help! I am fine by myself!” If you have ever raised a teenager, you have probably heard similar sayings. However, it is not just teenagers who think this way. Occasionally we all get this, “Lone Ranger” attitude. As a Pastor, I have heard adults say, “I do not like to ask for help,” or “I want to do it on my own.” How about, “I do not need to attend church,” or “I just do not like people.” Truth be known, we all like people and we all want people to like us. We somehow are afraid if people really get to know us, they may not like us. But that is not how God designed us. In fact, God designed us to be around people.

Not only is it good to have friends, but they also help keep us from falling. Today’s verse says just that. With no support network around us, no friends to hold us accountable, and left to our self, we may fall and stumble in sin. Why is that? It is because even though our heart is given to God, we still live with the old nature. The Bible says, “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” When left to think things out, we rationalize sin. That is one reason God created His church. To have a support group of like-minded people who struggle in a daily walk in this world just like us. It is not a sin to need a friend. It is a sin however not to be a friend. One of the greatest pleasures you will ever have is to truly help a friend in a time of need. To know that you have made a difference. You want your friends to be happy right? Then let them be of help to you in your spiritual walk with the Lord
.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Find a church if you do not have one. In that church find a friend or group of friends and begin to get to know each other well. It will not happen overnight. Nevertheless, with time and effort on your part, you can build a safety net of people who love you, and we all want and need to be loved.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

No One Is Stronger Than God

SEPTEMBER 10, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

If you watch enough so-called Christian TV today you are bound to hear some Faith Healing Evangelists suggest if you are sick, it is because there is some sort of demon in you which needs to be cast out. Then again, if it is not a demon, you have some terrible mortal sin you need to confess. Some go on to tell you where their next meeting is going to be so you can come and be healed. (Hope you do not die in the meantime, because they also believe that if you sin, you lose your salvation.)

However, this verse in the Bible tells us clearly sometimes trials and personal afflictions are not a result of our sin, or the result of the sins of others. The illness is also not a demon possessing us or even tormenting us. Occasionally, we are made to go through these things because God knows our character and that we will give honor and glory to Him even during these struggles. He knows many others may come to see Jesus by seeing Him in the life that you live in the midst of your trouble. They may have never seen Him in any other way.

Do not fall into the money pit of lies which tells you just because you are in a bad situation you have lost your faith or have been possessed by some demon. If you are possessed by the Holy Spirit, a demon cannot get in there. Jesus says you are kept by the power of God in 1 Peter 1:5. Friend, no one is stronger than God. NO ONE.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Romans 8:38 & 39 really says it all. “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Only Way To Look Is Up

SEPT 09, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 65:3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever heard the phase “there is trouble on every side” or “trouble is everywhere?” In today’s world, it seems to be so. We turn on the radio and hear someone using vulgar language. On TV, sinful lifestyles are not only portrayed but also applauded. In advertising today, sex is used to sell everything from shampoo to underwear. Wickedness seems to prevail on the street, in our workplace, in our towns, and even now in some churches, which have seemingly turned a blind eye to the truths that are written in scripture. Sadly, with sin so prevalent in today’s world we find ourselves tempted, and yes even falling into some of this worldly life from time to time. However, for the true Christian this is quickly followed by a time of sorrow for our sin and shame in front of God and others

The psalmist had the right feelings when he cried to the Lord “iniquities prevail against me.” His sin became an overwhelming burden to carry. Nevertheless, the last part of the verse can make the first part null and void by the blood of Jesus Christ.

There are not a lot of places we can look any longer and not see sin, except up. Look up to Jesus. If you have trusted in Him as Lord and Saviour, the Bible says He is the Author and the Finisher of your faith. Ask Him for forgiveness, walk away from the sin in your life, and He shall truly, “purge them away.” Jesus paid it all.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

James Nicholson penned the words in a song by the same name that fits so well here. “Whiter than snow, yes whiter than snow; now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” Even so Lord Jesus. Amen.

SEPTEMBER 08, 2021 – It Is A Really Long Verse

It Is A Really Long Verse

SEPTEMBER 08, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Would you like to know about a real long verse in the Bible? It may not be long in the number of words used, but it sure is in the time to which it refers. Isaiah 61:2 talks about “the acceptable year of the LORD” and “the day of vengeance of our God.” Jesus read aloud these very words in the Synagogue in Luke 4:16-21. He read up to the point of where He said, “To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD” and then He stopped and closed the book. Why? Well in Luke 4:21 He answered that question when He said, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” “The acceptable year of the LORD,” or the first coming of the Lord had come. These people were faced with a choice. Believe Jesus was God in the flesh, or believe He was liar. They made the wrong choice and tried to kill Him.

We today are still faced with the same choice. The first part of the verse became fact in the person of Jesus Christ. However, there is a part to this verse yet to deal with. “The day of vengeance,” has not yet come. This will happen at the second coming of our Lord to the earth. A lot has happened between His first coming and the awaiting of His second coming. Nevertheless, just like part one is a fact of the past, part two is just as much a future fact. So, what will you do with this truth today? Will you accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, or try to kill the idea of Him in your heart and believe He was a liar?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus. His grace was sufficient then, but many rejected it. His grace is sufficient today. However, He will not always extend that grace. Now is the time. Today is the day of salvation.
