Do You Still Believe It?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Titus 2:13-14
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Several times throughout the year we would have guest speakers visit our church. Missionaries, Evangelists, or other Pastors came, and God used them to encourage us in our walk with the Lord. Often when these Speakers come from out of town, we will put them up in a local motel.

One year, we hosted revival meetings at our church. We spent a lot of time and energy promoting this particular week and the well-known evangelist. The week had finally come, and I was waiting for him to arrive. The problem was that I thought he had said he would be here at one time, and he thought he said another. Needless to say, I was getting anxious about his arrival. I was sure he was going to be here soon. I checked the motel, I checked the room he was to stay in, and I checked my cell phone, answering machine, and caller ID. I tried reaching him, but his cell phone was not on. Therefore, I waited and waited and waited for what seemed to be an eternity. However, in all the time in which I waited, I never once ever thought of giving up on him arriving. Never once did I quit praying for his safe arrival and the revival for the next week. Why? Well, it was because I believed he was coming. He said he would. Sure enough, he did arrive safe, and the revival week was wonderful.

Christ has been a long time coming. I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting, but I have never quit believing that one day Jesus will return. Why? Well, it is because I believe He is coming as He said He would.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I continue to look for Jesus as if he could arrive today. He could you know? In addition, I will never quit praying for that day or for those who are still unsaved. Jesus said He was coming and friend, that is good enough for me.

Just The Way You Are

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 119:73
Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

The miracle of birth is an extraordinary event. No matter how many billions of babies are born, the miracle of birth will always be just that, a miracle. Modern medicine can assist in the fertilization of the living cells that begin the process, but even they cannot make growth and birth happen. Medical professionals must still wait and watch as God performs His miraculous work in the process of bringing forth yet another living and breathing soul. Man is capable of destroying a life but cannot create life. Only God has the miracle-working power to do that.

In addition to being the creator of our physical bodies and birth, God also fashions us into what we are and what we can become. He decides our height, genetic makeup, and those natural God-given talents. He gives us the ability to touch and feel, hurt and cry, to care, and to show compassion. Not only has He created you, but He has also fashioned you into what He and He alone desired and designed you to be. You are not a mistake. You did not just happen without design. God lovingly created you just as you are. Moreover, He loves you just as you are. He sent His Son Jesus to die for your sins just as you are. Today He can use you to glorify Him, just as you are.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Since God made you, fashioned you, and therefore knows you better than you can even know yourself, does it not make sense for you to want to get to know Him better as well? Call on Him and thank Him for His never-ending love for you JUST AS YOU ARE.

How will you develop a way to get to know your creator better?

Lean Into The Truth

May 27, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

2 Samuel 14:21
And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Sometimes, it can be hard to hear the truth. I mean let’s face it, the uncut, unfiltered truth will on occasion hurt. However, this is where all healing really begins. Healing begins when we face up to reality. When we acknowledge the Truth.

In the passage just before today’s verse, David had to first hear the truth. Before he could admit to the wrong, he had to hear and realize he was wrong. All too often when someone comes to us in Christian love to tell us of an area in our life, which needs to be looked at, we want to destroy the messenger. Or maybe we will read in God’s Word a convicting passage, and instead of allowing it to help us, we choose rather to ignore the message. Nevertheless, David heard the truth, and then he had to heed the truth. He had to realize his mistakes and face it. Lastly, he had to help make it right.

It all began with David being willing to listen to those hard words of truth.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As God, through His Word or by a messenger of truth, points out convicting areas in our lives, we must be willing to listen to it, learn from it, and lean toward it. Never running from the truth, but rather always running to it. Why? Because Jesus said I am “the truth,” in John 14:6. We should always want to run toward Jesus.

If the truth hurts, what do you tend to do?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 21:1-2
The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Excuses, what are they? I had a friend at our church who has since gone home to be with the Lord, who continually told me the definition of an excuse was “the skin of a reason stuffed with a lie.”

I am certain that we have all made up an excuse at one time or another. Instead of being completely honest with someone, we rather tell a part truth. Sadly, we sometimes make up excuses and rehearse them to ourselves. It often will begin when you start to wonder, should I be reading this, watching this, or listening to this? Should I be going there, hanging out with them, or even talking this way? Should I be drinking this, taking this, or smoking this? What is the excuse we give ourselves? Well, it may be, “l saw Mr. or Miss Christian doing it, so if it is ok for them, it must be ok.” We begin to make excuses for our life, yet inside we have a funny feeling, and we know something is not right. However, we have tried to convince ourselves if God will let them get by with it, He is sure to do the same for us.

Did you ever stop to think; that maybe they are watching you and thinking the same thing? Maybe they are judging their life by what they see you doing.

The Bible says that man will find a way to make everything they do seem ok in his own eyes. God, on the other hand, looks at your heart. He knows what you know deep down inside. He knows of the feeling you have knowing this is wrong or right. Do you know why God knows? He put that feeling there to help you make the right choices.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I heard a while back a phrase that helps me occasionally. It said, “If in doubt, don’t.” We should all operate under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word and not according to someone that we might see at church or at work. Let us be an example of Christ and for Christ.

Does living a life for Christ cause you to mirror another person’s life?

What Has He Done For You?

May 20, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 116:8
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Sometimes as a Pastor, I will be sharing the gospel with someone and he or she will ask, “What has this God ever done for me?” In their sinful condition, I can understand how they might feel this way. However, if they could ever see what He has done for those who have put their faith in Him, and what He will give to them if they accept His free offer of salvation, I do not see how they could turn Him down.

Our verse today kind of sums it all up. He has forever released us from the sting of death. Until the day in which God sends Christ back to rapture the church, we all must face the moment when we stop breathing and our bodies are laid to rest. However, that is not the sting of death. When something stings, it hurts. When we go from earth to heaven there will be no pain or suffering, only joy and, well, heaven. On the other hand, without Christ as your Saviour, you will experience the sting, the pain, and the torment of hell for eternity.

He also says He will never leave believers who are in Christ, nor forsake them. He will forever walk with them. Here on this earth as we travel through life, and from here to heaven as we are translated to Him. Forever, He will never leave me. The unsaved however will be separated from the love of God for eternity at the moment of death.

The Bible says He will wipe all the tears from my eyes, FOREVER. The lost, however, will cry out for eternity.

Therefore, here is the question, “What has He done for YOU?”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Looking forward to heaven is only part of the joy of knowing Jesus. Living for Him and with His Holy Spirit within us here on earth is also rewarding today.

So the question you must answer is,
“What has God done for you?”
