Daily Reading – Amos 1-3 / Revelation 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Today, with all that is happening in the world, it might be easy to begin to think that God does not care. That He is not watching and seeing what is going on. Yet, as we read the second and third chapters of the Book of the Revelation of John, to each church God says these words. “I know thy works.”

    If God knows us, then we also know God is watching us. That has two implications. It means He is watching as the world does horrible things contrary to His Word. He is also watching as the church of the Living God sits back and does little to stand against it. When God says, “I know you,” He means He knows every tiny detail about you, including the thoughts of our hearts.

Daily Reading – Joel / Revelation 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    It is hard for us to try to wrap our minds around the idea of forever. Everything we know of has had a beginning somewhere and will at some time come to an end. Everyone from all faiths and no faith agree that even things like the stars, planets, wind, and rain, all began somewhere. So, eternity is hard to imagine.

    When God says He is the beginning and end, He is not saying that He had a beginning, nor someday will end. He is referring to the fact that He was here when creation began, He is alive and well today, and He will always be around no matter what happens on earth. He is the Almighty. He is in control and guiding history to Christ’s final victory over it all. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Doesn’t that comfort you to know He was, Is, and will always be?

Daily Reading – Hosea 10-14 / Jude

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Jude 1:24-25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    It is always good to know that someone is looking out for you. A phrase used by many people today when they are supporting your decisions in life is, “I have got your back.” Meaning, I am here for you.

    While it is great to have the support of man, there is an even greater peace knowing Christ is in our corner. Jude ends his letter telling us about our God and saying, “He has got you.” He says God is able to keep us from falling. Not that we will not stumble in life, but that God is there to assure us, no matter the situation, ultimately, we will be ok. He is going to present us faultless for His own joy before God the Father. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t it wonderful to know that God is watching out for you every day of your life, for your whole life?

Daily Reading – Hosea 5-9 / 3 John

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

3 John 1:5-6 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    When I was a little boy, I was told, “Nobody likes a tattle tale.” However, over the years I have come to find out, that is not always true. I guess some of that may depend on what we give the tattle tale to tell.

    John said in 3 John verse 5 people were talking about the love these people had shown not only to the church, but to strangers they did not even know. In other words, they had shown the love of God to so many people they had kind of been branded as nice people. John said, that is a good thing, you do well.

    If someone is tattling on you, telling people about you, branding you as something, what is it they are saying? 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

You know someone is telling on you, right?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

     On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Daily Reading – Hosea 1-4 / 2 John

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Today’s verse kind of takes you in a circle. Yet, it is a good circle in which to be.

    What is Love? Well, John tells us. It is to keep God’s commandment. Then I guess we need to know, what is God’s commandment? In 2 John 1:5 John tells us. “And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.” God has said we are to show love to all people. However, in 2 John, John was writing to the church. The “one another” in this verse would have been the people of the church. So then, to love God we need to love His church. When we love God by loving His church, He loves us. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t Love grand?
