God’s Mercy
November 28, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 119:124
Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

What a brave soul it is, who looks into the face of a Holy God and says, “DEAL WITH ME.” Can you even think of walking into the courtroom of eternal life and looking at the Judge of all creation, who has the complete and true record of everything you have done, and saying, “DEAL WITH ME?” Not only does this Judge know the written record, but also every thought you have had, every word you have said, and every place you have gone. This Judge knows the deepest, darkest secrets about you.

Then, to make matters worse, the Judge has bound Himself to handing out only one of two sentences to every person who comes into His courtroom. You will receive a sentence of either life or death. Life, if you are one of those who are found sinless. Death if you are part of the number who is not.

Now you are standing before that Judge and saying, “DEAL WITH ME.” If God were to deal with us according to justice or give us what we deserve, we would all be bound for hell. However, because He deals with us according to His MERCY, we can find grace in the eyes of God through the applied sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God’s mercy is different from man’s mercy in that when God promises mercy, His promises are forever. When we accept His Son Jesus as our Saviour, we can count on everlasting kindness from the Creator of all things. The mercy of God is not explainable, but definitely attainable. “Thank you, God, for your mercy toward me.”

What can you do today that would make God’s role as Judge easier?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this Passage and today’s Devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are one or two things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

Be Thankful!
November 27, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 33:31-33
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

During this time of the year, with several Holidays upon us, many Christians will try to share their faith with family and friends. Many families and friends will stand by and hear your lovely words. They will nod their heads and agree with their mouth, but as soon as the celebration is over, they will not have given their life to Christ, nor will anything change in their life.

What a time to rejoice and give thanks. WHAT, you might ask? Oh yes, it is a time to be very thankful to God. I am thankful it is not up to you or up to me to save a person. Salvation is the work of God. I rejoice, even though there are those who turn a deaf ear, there will also be those who listen and receive God’s love through His Son Jesus Christ. I am thankful that I will not be held accountable for what others do, only for what I do. I am thankful that a few times a year, God allows us the opportunity to share our faith and joy in Him, without feeling out of place in doing so. I am thankful that God will make Himself known in the hearts of people. Finally, I am thankful that, on occasion, He can use someone like me. We have so very much for which to be thankful.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

During this Holiday Season, let God use you. When sharing with family and friends what you are most thankful for, be sure to mention Christ and His saving power in your life. Mention that salvation is available to all. Let this be more than a Holiday, share Christ with others, and make it an occasion to remember.

Begin now to make a list. What are you most thankful for?

My Life Verse
November 26, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Hebrews 2:12
Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Years ago, my Pastor encouraged me to find a Bible verse that I might call my life verse. I thought at the time this would be almost impossible. Many verses in the Bible spoke of who I was to be and what I was to do. How could I pick just one? However, my Pastor had said this would be a good thing to do, so I set out to do as he suggested.

I began my quest by asking God to lead me to a verse that spoke to me about my mission in life, or especially spoke to me. Then I came across this verse. This was the perfect verse for me. At the time, I knew God was calling me into the Evangelistic Ministry. To sing and preach wherever He might open a door. This verse declared what I felt I should do then, and now. I am to declare Christ’s name to anyone and everyone and sing for the glory of God.

As I continued in the Evangelistic Ministry and then as a Pastor myself, this verse meant even more to me. I have the great privilege week after week of sharing with people I know, and who know me, the wonders of God’s Word. I am also blessed to be able to sing the praises of His name with and for the church.

What a blessing this verse has been and will forever continue to be in my life. What a great word of advice my Pastor shared with me on that day. Might I suggest that if you have never found a life verse for yourself, one that you know God speaks to your heart about, begin that search today? I know it will influence your life. It sure has mine.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I am not asking you to take this as your life verse. However, would you consider following its meaning on Sunday? As you gather with family and friends, would you declare His name unto your brethren and sing a song of praise to Him? As we think on Thanksgiving week, let us thank Him, most of all.

Do you have a verse you recognize as your Life Verse?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 119:71
It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Driving in most cities today requires considerably more concentration than in the past. This is due to several things. One, there are more drivers on the road today. If you go into any good-sized city around noon, you will know exactly what I mean. There are hundreds of people trying to get somewhere in a hurry. Two, I am getting older. My reflexes are not as quick as they used to be, and my patience seems to have shortened at times as well. Third, according to most drivers, everyone else on the road is stupid, except for them. So, with hundreds of people driving on the same roads, and many with short tempers, what keeps traffic going? It is the traffic laws. These laws tell us when and how long to wait at a light and who goes first at a four-way stop. There are hundreds of these laws written that we are supposed to know. Surprisingly, we seem to know most of them.

How did we get so smart? Was it by sitting down and memorizing all those laws? Well, for some, maybe, but most of us learned them by seeing that these laws made sense. We see reminder signs along the roads. We have found out how these laws work together for all of us. A special person with flashing lights on top of their car taught us some of the laws. If this happened to you, I bet you drove away thinking, “Oh boy, I learned another lesson!” Yeah right. You were most likely upset you were caught, just like everyone else. However, as we mature, most of us realize that even the laws we do not like have a purpose.

The same is true in life. When God allows things into our lives that hurt, it never seems fair. However, God teaches us something with every situation in life. Sometimes, He is simply saying, “Trust Me.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

With every trial in life, there is a lesson to be learned or a character to be developed. As God molds us into who He needs us to be, we must accept that He is doing this for His good first and ours also. He made all the statutes, or rules, so we could all get where we are going in life safely and according to His plan. The question here might be Where are you going? God will get you there if you let Him lead.

So, where is God leading you in life?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverb 24:1 & 20
Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them…
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

The riches of the world can entice anyone. You may think, “No, not me.” However, if someone came up with just the right offer, it could even be you. It is often not so much a desire to be filthy rich, just richer. It is not to have it all, just more. It is not to be the greatest, just better. What drives most people today is the thought of, “I just want a little more.” Most people today who are good stewards and watch their spending are a little better off than they were five or ten years ago. Yet isn’t it funny that we still want a little more? The question then becomes, when does it ever end?

Being successful and having things, even by the world’s standards, is not in itself a sin. However, falling into the trap of allowing our desires to take over to the point where we will do almost anything to get more is when it becomes greed and sin. The Bible warns us against wanting so much that we end up following after or joining sinful men to get it. Why? It is because their end will be destruction. Prov. 24:20 says, “For there shall be no reward to the evil man.

The world has little in common with you, Christian. They desire to glorify self, while you should be glorifying God. They desire to lay up treasure here on earth, and yours should be to lay up treasures in heaven. They will compromise anything to get ahead; you should never be willing to compromise your testimony to get anything. They want people to help them get ahead in life; you want to help people get ahead in life eternally. They love man and what man can offer; you love God and all He offers. There is little you have in common except this: both of you have eternal life. One has chosen eternal life in heaven with Christ; the other, by default, chooses eternal life in hell.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As you make decisions that may seem very innocent on the surface, remember that what you decide today and whom you decide to do it with may make a difference in your life and the lives of others for years to come. Let’s be thankful for what God has given us today and not envious of the world.

What decisions might you make today that could have eternal value?
