Honor God

JANUARY 21, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 42-43 /  Matthew 13:36-58

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Today’s verses say Jesus was not honored in His own country. Many pastors have looked for ministries away from where they grew up for this reason. However, read it again. Not only was He not honored in His own country, but also in His own house. It may have been that they were too familiar with Jesus to see what God wanted to do through Him.

Many today have walked away from God’s House, the church, and fellowship. They feel they have heard it, seen it, and do not need any more. However, could it be that in doing so, they are not honoring Jesus again in His own house? He just might use them if they stayed.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What might He do in our midst if we would
stay in awe of Him and all He can do?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

See It? Hear It? Get It?

JANUARY 20, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 40-41 /  Matthew 13:1-35

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Some have read this verse in the New Testament and felt Jesus was purposefully trying to keep salvation as a secret from those around. However, if you look at Jesus’ explanation, it was not the story that was the problem; it was the heart of the hearer. Those around him had the scrolls, the scripture of that time, and yet were not willing to listen or see what Jesus was teaching. They had grown cold to the truth. Their hearts, it says, had waxed gross or unreceptive.

Today in America and in most parts of the world, the teachings of the Bible are readily available, yet people are unreceptive. It is not that the Word of God is not taught; it is that people will not see or hear the truth.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How can we help people see it, hear it, and get it?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

Daily Reading—Genesis 38-39 /  Matthew 12:38-50

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Way too often, I have heard people make excuses for what they listen to by way of music, or watch on TV and movies, or read in literature. They make claims such as “It’s just a movie,” “It’s just a song,” or “It’s just a book.” However, the truth is that whatever we allow in our hearts and minds will in some way show up in our lives and eventually come out of our mouths.

Computer geek programmers have a term they use, “GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.” It means if you want good results out of your program, you must put good programming in. Your brain is the most powerful computer ever designed. One day, you will give an account for every word programmed into it.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What are you going to allow to be put into your mind today?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

It’s Not About The Dwelling

JANUARY 17 & 18, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 35-37 / Matthew 12:1-37

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As a former pastor, I was grateful for the place God provided for our church to meet. However, at times, I have almost been scolded for saying the building is a building, and the Church fills it. Don’t get me wrong, I think we should respect and treat with care God’s house, the place where we meet. However, when all is said and done, it is wood, brick, shingles, and siding.

Jesus made a similar statement in Matthew 12:6. It is not about the dwelling; it is about the dweller. A building without God’s saved people is not a church. Just as a person without Christ in their heart is not a Christian?

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What matters more, the dweller or the dwelling?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, reread those passages for today’s reading. God has given your pastor exactly what He desires for you to have on that day.

Real Rest

JANUARY 16, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 33-34 / Matthew 11:20-30

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

It was very possible that in today’s verse, Christ was speaking to Jewish people who had been oppressed by the ceremonial and ritualistic laws of their religion. He was saying to them, If you embrace me as your Saviour, you can then rest from these burdensome, legalistic, man-made laws. That had to sound good.

As we read it today, He is telling us the same thing. Many have searched for the truth in life and tried to find it in work, wealth, worldliness, and whatever might fill that emptiness inside. In John 14:6, it says Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Once you find that Jesus’ way is the truth of life, you can rest from the constant search.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will it be His way of rest or your way of worry?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?
