Some Things Never Change…
December 26, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 145:13-14
Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year for most. It brings with it a sense of joy and happiness. People who have not been around for a while stop by and spend time with you. Bosses who you thought never recognized you sent you a card or gave you a call. People exchange pleasant conversations and gifts. It is such a great time of the year.

However, studies have shown that in the days to follow, there are more cases of depression and suicide than at any other time of year. You may wonder why. Many believe one cause may be the high of all the attention, which swells until Christmas and drops like a rock the next day. It is over. No more gifts. No more jolly pleasantries. It is back to the real world. People are thrust back into LIFE. The problem then is that people have begun to live in a world that does not exist. A world where nothing is wrong, and everyone is happy. The truth is, there is a lot wrong. Sin is everywhere, and the entire world is not happy. So, how do we keep these ups and downs to a minimum in our lives?

The answer is to find something in life that will be constant. People need to have a staple in life that remains the same before and after Christmas and will be the same forever. There is only one thing in life that is never changing. It is not what, as much as it is who. GOD! His kingdom is never-ending, and you can be part of it. He rules over every generation and all nations. He can be your permanent, never-changing God if you allow Him to. He will hold you up when you begin to feel low and make something special out of you if you allow Him to. He loves you and wants the best for you, always.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Do not let this season cause your emotions to bounce up and down like a ship in the open water. Anchor to the rock Christ Jesus. Let Him be your constant in life this year, next year, and for all eternity. Jesus never fails, and Jesus never changes. Oh yes, and He never quits loving you. Call on Him. He is as close as a prayer.

What will it mean to you to have someone stable in your life to come?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Nehemiah 8:5-6
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up: And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

At the reading of God’s Word, the people stood to their feet. They were not asked to rise or to stand. Just out of pure respect for what was contained in the words written in the book, they stood.

In England, when the queen rides past, people stand. When the President of the United States enters a room, people stand. Why? It is done out of respect for the position they have obtained and their place in leadership over us.

After the reading of God’s Word, when Ezra offered blessings and praise to the Lord, the people did three things.

  • First, they lifted their hands with palms open, showing that they had no weapons, no hostility, holding onto nothing. The open hands also displayed an expectation of supply by their God.

  • Next, they said, “Amen” with their voice, or more literally, “so be it.” Saying, “Let it be as our God has spoken.”

  • Finally, they bowed their faces to the ground in a show of worship. They did not look at God as their equal but as superior.

Today, people do not lift their hands very often because someone might see them. They do not shout AMEN anymore because people will complain. They often will not even close their eyes, much less bow their head to the ground in respect of God. Jesus came as a baby to this place called Earth, but He lives today as a King on high. He came to regular people, but He lives as God the Son. He came to die for the sins of many that He might save their soul. Many have accepted Him. Have you?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

On this Christmas Morning, can you find a time to get alone with God and lift your hands, bow your head, and say amen? Let it be as God has spoken. May you all have a Merry and “Christ-filled” Christmas.

What will a Christ-filled Christmas look like
with you and your family this year?

Satan Loves To Bug God
December 24, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Revelation 12:9-10
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

This season is all about love, laughter, and enjoying this festive time of year. What would this day be like if all day long someone rode in your car and said terrible, horrible things about your spouse, your children, or your best friends? What if it did not stop there, and when you got to the place you were going, they tagged right along and continued with this terrible chatter about all the faults of these people you love? On the drive home, it is more of the same. Then, while trying to relax at home, a never-ending tale of the worst possible things about your favorite people keeps coming. Imagine if you will, this went on day after day after day after day after day. Would that help to make all your season merry and your spirits bright?

Do you know today, right now, this is what God is listening to from Satan? He listens to a constant accusation of all our many faults. Everything we do or say and any mistake we make, Satan twists and changes to make us look as bad as possible before God.

The good news is that Jesus is our advocate with the Father. As Satan makes His accusations, Jesus, like an attorney, pleads our case. Saying, the price is paid, settled at the cross of Calvary. Their sin has been paid for with the Blood of the Lamb. Then He holds out His nail-scared hands as proof of the payment. One day, God will hear enough, and Satan will be banished forever from the ear of God. Now that will be a very merry day in heaven indeed.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Satan uses everything he can to accuse us. Let’s not give him any more than he already has to use against us this Christmas and New Year’s Season.

What ammunition did Satan gain last year that you will
keep him from using in the days and years to come?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 23:6
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

It is easier than ever to get credit nowadays. I often receive mailings from credit card companies asking me to use their cards. Why are they so interested in me using these little pieces of plastic? It is because they know the average person will run up more bills on these accounts than they can pay for in a month. This is especially true during the holiday gift-giving season. Then, when the accounts are not paid by month’s end, they get to charge you interest. Many people today are paying monthly payments to these companies that just barely pay the interest. Some people are still paying off last year’s Christmas while charging ahead into this year’s debt. Once a person becomes caught in this high-interest nightmare, for some, it seems almost impossible to get out.

They never told you this when they called or sent an invitation to join their card, did they? Did they say, “Hello, we would like you to run up an account with us that you can never pay back, so we can charge you interest on that amount until you die?” Well, of course not. They tell you all about the benefits and the low interest for the first three months. Usually, when I tell them I pay off my cards every month and have a “zero” balance on all of them, they are not interested in talking with me anymore. Why, it is simple math. It is because I will not make them any money.

Our verse today refers to this very thing. Do not get sucked into the fancy speeches and nice voice. Do not desire their dainty goods. This may very well lead you into a path of financial nightmares.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I know there are some Christian Economists who say that we as Christians are not to be in debt at all. This seems impossible from time to time. However, being a good steward of what God entrusts us with means keeping our debt manageable and to a minimum. Give people your love this Christmas. This is all they want anyway. If they want more than your real love for them, should you be buying them gifts anyway? Let’s not owe our lives to the world. Why should we? We gave our lives to God.

How would you say you are doing at stewarding
the resources God has entrusted to you?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 141:3-4
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever thought, I sure wish I had not said or done that? Well, I have. Too often, we find ourselves in the position of feeling as if we have not just placed one foot in our mouth, but both feet and part of a leg. We spout off a few words or commit deeds with little or no thought for the feelings of others, much less their good or well-being. Then, when it is done, we look back and think I wish I could do that over. Well, YOU CAN’T.

You cannot do things over. You might have an opportunity to make things right from time to time. You may have the chance to repeat something, correcting what you should have done right the first time. However, the truth is, time marches on, and you cannot do things over. Once a comment or gesture is made, it is done. Those who heard your first words or saw your first action will know what you did the first time, no matter what you do to correct it. They may forgive, but hardly ever forget. This is why the Psalmist was praying and begging God to help him guard his comments and his actions. That he might do and say the right things that would be honoring and pleasing to God the first time around.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As we prepare in the next few days to meet with family and friends, there are several opportunities to say and do the right things or the wrong things. We can be Christ-like or worldly. What we do will honor or dishonor God in front of those around us. This challenge is almost, if not completely, impossible to do without God’s help. We all need to pray this prayer of the Psalmist, asking God to guard and guide our conversation and actions. That all we do would be pleasing unto HIM.

How might God’s word help you and allow the Holy Spirit
to guide and guard your conversations in times to come?
