Will You Walk This Path?
July 8, 2024

DAILY PROVERB:

Proverbs 16:22-24
Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

If I were to ask you to walk on a pathway made of boards set edge to edge, with each board two feet long and one foot in width, would you be okay with that? Using one hundred of these boards, we can make a path two feet wide and one hundred feet long, with plenty of space for your entire foot and some left over. Most people would say, “Sure, I could follow such a path.”

Now let me add this: What if on the left side of that path of boards, there was a cliff that fell one hundred feet to a stony riverbed below? Now, would you walk that path? Okay, how about if on both sides of these boards, there were cliffs of the same depth? Let’s also add ropes to tie the boards together, more ropes to hang onto, and suspend these boards over this one-hundred-foot gorge. Now will you walk this path? One last thing, the wind is blowing your hanging bridge of boards back and forth just a bit. Now will you go across? NO! Why not, what changed? Aren’t these the same boards you were willing to walk on when you thought they were on the ground?

The difference is all in the surroundings, as the boards never changed. The reason most people will not cross a swinging rope bridge is not that they are afraid of the ropes and wood, they are afraid of the fall. The first time I ever crossed a bridge like that, my uncle laughed like crazy at me. He just ran on across. I, on the other hand, was clinging on for dear life. After about a week, I was running across the bridge too. Over time, I had become familiar with the bridge and learned to trust it.

Understanding that there is safety in God’s wisdom in all situations, that wisdom becomes our wellspring of life. We need to become familiar with His Word, trust it, and teach it to others as well. His Word becomes the boards in life we can walk on.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

I ran across, but I still used the ropes as guides. They seemed to give me balance. Reading God’s Word every day does the same thing. It gives your life balance. Read some every day.

Will you walk the path of life with God
trusting what He says, wherever He takes you?

Sound Advice!
July 5, 2024

DAILY PROVERB:

Proverbs 16:19-21
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Trusting in the Lord and his wisdom will always provide the best outcome. Our verse for today says, “whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.” Why is that? Well, almost everyone has heard the term “Sound Advice.” What does that mean? On a rare occasion, will the sound have anything to do with speakers, amplifiers, music, or anything to do with your hearing? Sound Advice means Advice you can be sure about. Its Advice, which, if followed, will bring about favorable results.

Back in Proverbs 2:6, it says that true wisdom comes from God. It is not us figuring things out in life; it’s God sharing His wisdom of all ages, past, present, and future with us. Therefore, if we seek and respect God, we will respect what He has to say. If we respect what He says, we will act upon those words. If we act upon His advice, we will always come out right. Why? Because, as it says in Proverbs 2:7, “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:…” Sound Advice.

Proverbs 2:7 also says the Lord will be our buckler. Okay, so “buckler” is not a term we use much today. A buckler was a small shield carried on the arm or in the hand of soldiers to defend themselves when engaged in hand-to-hand combat. The wisdom of God is just that. It becomes our shield as we walk through life, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the evil that the world and Satan have in place. What does that mean? It means we place faith in what God says and then use it as our defense. Simply put, “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good.”

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

I believe what God is saying in the book of Proverbs is also what He was saying in Ephesians 6:16. “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” It is not just hearing and reading what God has to say but also believing and living it. That is faith. In addition, my friends, that’s SOUND ADVICE!

What Sound Advice will you live by today?

Best Of Both Worlds
July 4, 2024

DAILY PROVERB:

Proverbs 16:15-18
In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

I have heard people say before, “that guy or girl has the best of both worlds.” One might wonder, what two worlds are they talking about? Well, the phrase simply means having your cake and eating it too, reaping the benefits from two situations here on this earth.

Godly wisdom and understanding will cause a person to turn to God and His Word in times of trials and tribulation. However, you will occasionally find the unsaved also searching through the pages of the Bible during troubling times. True wisdom is understanding that the Word of God is needed during both good times and painful ones in life.

God’s Word will help the upright choose the path in life that leads away from evil. In the world we live in today, we need all the guidance we can find to help us navigate past the snares and traps of Satan.

In choosing this life of surrender to God through accepting His Son, Jesus, as our Savior, we also preserve our souls for the world to come. Yes, Christians are afforded the best of both worlds. A place in heaven has been secured for us through Christ. Navigating our path in life today means we need to remain humble and stay focused on God’s guiding hand.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Here are some keys to survival: Stay in touch with the author. Speak to God daily through prayer and allow Him to speak to you through the pages of His Word. Then, consistently fellowship with other believers whom God has put together to encourage you. He calls them the Church!

Do you have the best of bothe Worlds?
If not, why?

The Throne Belongs To God
July 3, 2024

DAILY PROVERB:

Proverbs 16:12-14
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

How far off course have we strayed in America? The Bible states that it is an abomination for the king, or in the case of Americans, for the president, to commit wickedness. It’s an abomination! In other words, God views wickedness as sickening, and it should be. Why? Because the throne or office of leadership was established with the concept of righteousness attached to it. Whoever holds this office should look to the one and only true King of all Kings as their example in every judgment and every decision made. Jesus Christ, who will one day rule and reign over all the earth, should serve as their model and example of how to govern well in the high office they are entrusted with. Instead, today we debate whether God and religion have any place in politics. Even the Church today becomes upset when a preacher mentions anything about the sinful life of their favorite candidate from the pulpit.

Social unrest, global conflict, and a fragile economy have driven people more and more to dismiss God and true morality in favor of anyone who will offer them hope of peace and more money in their pockets. Sadly, they have forgotten that God alone brings peace, and He is the one who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, not any political party.

Even worse are those who say, “I will not vote until the perfect man is eligible for office.” When they take this stance, they allow the lost world and its sinful ideas to have their way. Waiting to vote for the perfect man to hold a position of authority would mean waiting until Jesus returns. Friend, on that day, there will be no vote. HE IS ALREADY KING OF KINGS!

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

What can we do today, you may ask? The one thing we should have been doing all along: hold leadership to the highest of true moral standards. Next, and most importantly, pray that God will turn their hearts toward Him. Finally, pray daily for all those in authority over you. Never forget, God is still in control.

How will you pray today for those in authority over you today?
