  When Did Life Become New

SEPTEMBER 19, 2022
Daily Reading – Pro. 20-21 / 2 Co. 5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

This is one of those verses, which had a big impact on my life. I had been brought up to believe once I was saved, I was always saved. I still believe that, with one clause. YOU MUST KNOW YOU’RE REALLY SAVED!
As a young boy, I said a prayer along with others my age, was told I was saved, and baptized. Then for the next twenty years I lived like the world. When I walked the Isle in my late twenty’s, I thought I rededicated my life to the Lord. That was until this verse began to plague me. I could not get the question out of my mind. When did things in my life become new? I realized it was in my twenty’s when I went forward. Old things, like language, desires, and habits had less of an appeal

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

When did things become new for you?

Daily Reading – Pro. 18-19 / 2 Co. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

If you are ever around 3-5-year-olds very long you have heard, “He touched me,” “That’s mine,” “It’s my toy,” and “She’s looking at me.” If it was not for the crying and whining accompanying it, it might be funny. However, no one likes to hear adults cry and whine.
Many Christians are much like these little ones when it comes to witnessing. Excuses like, “They will think I am a religious nut.” I wonder, what kind of nut do they think you are if you do not say you are a Christian nut. Or you will hear, “I do not talk well to people.” I take offense in that. They must not think I am people as they just spoke to me. Listen, no matter what they think, it will only be a little while, then we can all go to heaven.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you believe God can and will help you with your faith?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2022 – Joy Is Contagious

  Joy Is Contagious

Daily Reading – Pro. 16-17 / 2 Co. 2-3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Mark 9:23-24 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

You look across a room and see someone yawn. It Is not long until you find yourself yawning as well. You were not even tired, until you saw them yawn. However, the power of suggestions is contagious.
Paul says to the church in Corinth, if I make you sad then how can you uplift me? If you are sad, then you are going to make me sad. In 1 Cor. 2:3 he says, “that my joy is the joy of you all,” or, when you are happy, you make me happy.
When we criticize and hurt others with whom we fellowship, their sorrow will in turn cause our own sadness. Yet, if we encourage, and bring joy into others life, we in turn uplift ourselves. Joy is contagious.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Who might you encourage today? It may just be the joy you need tomorrow.

Why Did This Happen To Me

Daily Reading – Pro. 14-15 / 2 Co. 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Over the years, I have seen many good Christians go through some terrible life ordeals. I watched as they have been ill, lost jobs, lost loved ones, watch a child go astray, and the list goes on. I am often asked, “Why did this happen to me?” What they are saying is, I have lived my life for the Lord, why am I going through this?
While there are several possible answers, one may be found in today’s verse. It says God will see you through your trial, and that He may be planning to use you to comfort someone else down the road. When trials come in life, it is good to have a friend who has been there and really knows how you feel.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

In today’s struggle, could God be preparing you to be a great and needed friend to someone else tomorrow?

  Cut It Out

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In today’s verses we find God’s desire for the church. But there Is a phrase found only once in the New Testament that we do not use today. “Quit you like men.” Some may think at first reading Paul is saying, quit acting like men. Actually, it is just the opposite.
When I was young and would do something my mom wanted me to stop doing, she would say, “Quit. Cut it out.” My mom may not have known it, but she helped me understand what God was saying here. Quit means to be cut out. Paul is saying be cut out like a man, be brave and bold. We are told to watch for spiritual attacks, stand fast on God’s Word, be brave, bold, and strong, and do it all with love.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you, be Cut Out? Will you be brave and bold for the Lord?
