AUGUST 25, 2022 – Just Praise Him!

  Just Praise Him!

AUGUST 25, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 90-96 / Rom. 15

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 15:9-11 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

My life verse has been, Hebrews 2:12 “Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.” I try to live this verse. I love to sing, especially about my Lord. I love to preach and witness about His grace and mercy that saved my soul and is available to all.
Romans 15:9-11 essentially says the same thing. It says that because of God’s mercy people will sing, rejoice, praise, and laud, (which means celebrate) His name. Stop and think of what God did when He devised a plan to save our soul from sin’s penalty. The death of His Son’s was the cost of that plan, and yet, He carried it out because of His love for you.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How can we not sing, rejoice, praise, and laud, His name?

AUGUST 24, 2022 – Everyone Wear White Socks

  Everyone Wear White Socks

AUGUST 24, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 86-89 / Rom. 14

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 14:1-3 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As a young boy, if I wore dark-colored socks, my feet would sweat and smell terrible. It was so bad that my sister caught me sleeping and sprayed Lysol on them. My dad had a similar issue and told me if I would wear white socks, it would help. He was right, it did. So, to this day, I wear white socks. Yet, how crazy would it be for me to tell everyone to wear white sock for them to be a good Christian. Socks, or any clothing for that matter will not determine a person’s salvation.
I think we should always do our best for the Lord, including what we wear. However, one person’s best may be a lot different from another person’s best. God does not look at the outward appearance, He looks at the heart.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Shouldn’t we try to do the same thing?

AUGUST 23, 2022 – Love Is Not Optional

  Love Is Not Optional

AUGUST 23, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 80-85 / Rom. 13

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I grew up in the 60’s when the Beatles were popular. They sang a song entitled “All You Need Is Love.” Whether they realized it or not, the Bible said that way before they did. It says we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. You might be thinking, what if they are adulterers, homosexuals, drug addicts, or murders, are we supposed to love them too? The answer is yes.
The Bible tries to help us see the difference between the person committing sin and the sin itself. Sin is what sinners do. Jesus died for the sinner to cleanse them from their sin. We can and should hate sin. However, we can and should love the sinner. Remember, we as believers are sinners who have been saved by grace.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

For Christians then, love is not an option, right?

AUGUST 22, 2022 – It’s A Matter Of Preference

  It’s A Matter Of Preference

AUGUST 22, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 78-79 / Rom. 12

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In Romans 12, Paul gives the church a list of things to help strengthen the church and its believers. One issue that he touches on is our affection and attention. Truth is, we linger near what we love. I am affectionate toward my wife because I love her. Therefore, I give her my attention over everyone else. Why, because I prefer to be with her and have found that I learn to love her more because of the time we spend together.
Paul says we as the church ought to be affectionate toward one another and, actually preferring one another. That would mean we would long to spend time with the church and giving our attention to them. If you do not have that relationship with your church, maybe you are not spending enough time with them.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What do you prefer, the world, or God’s Church?

AUGUS 20 & 21, 2022 – Only Trust Him

  Only Trust Him

JULY 20 & 21, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 73-77 / Rom. 11

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

A doctor will prescribe medicine, we will take it, and it makes us well. Very few people really understand how those molecules break up and make that happen. We get into an elevator and go to the next floor without understanding all the elevators working parts. Cell phones, computers, and tablets all send information through the air, yet we do not know how that works.
God’s ways are far above any technology. His knowledge and wisdom exceed anything we dream up. Yet people trust man’s devices without knowing how they work but won’t trust God until they think they have figured Him out. God’s ways and wisdom are “unsearchable.” We need to trust Him. He is smarter than we are.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Do we really trust God completely?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
