Everyone Has A God
July 22, 2026
Daily Reading—Job 5-8 / Acts 19:1-20
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Everyone has a god. Even the atheist who says there is no God has then declared themselves to be their own god. We all worship something. Some people will worship trees and bees. Others will worship the stars and Mars. However, when we are all honest with our consciences, we all bow down to something.
Paul noticed that those in Athens wanted to cover every base, so they included an altar to “THE UNKNOWN GOD.” The problem is that you cannot really have more than one god. If you do, then none of them is GOD, as there is no god in control of the other gods. Thankfully, there is one TRUE GOD. A God who created and loves us all, even if we do not believe in Him.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Will you lift up this GOD to the world today?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?
