The Man Believed

Daily Reading – 1 Kings 3-5 / John 4:39-54

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 4:49-50 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

     I love this story of the man whose son was almost to die. He found Jesus and asked Him to come with him to heal his son. Jesus said, “Go thy way; thy son liveth.” I love the next line. “And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him.” No asking for proof, no additional begging, no doubts of what was said, he simply believed the word of Jesus.

     Too often, it seems as though people want God to prove Himself to them before they will believe. Jesus says, believe and you will see many wonderful things. I wonder how many people will never accept Christ or see His wondrous work in their life because they got it backwards?

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

They Knew He Was Coming

Daily Reading – 1 Kings 1-2 / John 4:1-38

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 4:25-26 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

  People often wonder about salvation in the Old Testament, compared with salvation in the New Testament. It is really the same thing. Salvation is by faith in Christ no matter when you are saved. We today look back to the cross of Calvary and Christ, the Messiah, who died for us there. The people of the Old Testament looked to a coming Messiah, as we see by the woman at the well’s statement to Jesus.

  They knew He was coming because their scriptures had told them so. We know He is coming again because of the same truths written for us in God’s Word. They were waiting, watching, and looking for His appearance.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are we looking for Him to come?

Going The Wrong Way

Daily Reading – 2 Samuel 23-24 4 / John 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

      I saw on the news a while back a story and video of a man who was drinking and driving on the wrong side of the highway. Although everything was coming his way, he appeared not to realize he was in the wrong. It ended in a fiery crash that took his life.

      Jesus did not come to the world to condemn people; they are already heading down the wrong way of life. By heading that way, they are condemned already. Jesus came to be the flashing light in their eyes to warn them. If they will see the warning and turn from their sin to Him, He will save them. Otherwise, there is bound to be a fiery crash at the end of their life. The bible says, “let your light so shine.”

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you help shine the light of Jesus to warn someone today?

There Was A Marriage

Daily Reading – 2 Samuel 21-22 / John 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 2:1-2 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

  According to John 2:11 Jesus’ first recorded miracle was performed at a wedding. Jesus being present and aiding in the celebration shows His support for the covenant relationship that today is in question by many. In Genesis 2:24 God began the first institution of marriage when He calls Adam to cleave to his wife.

  Marriage is just another of the biblical blessings the world is trying to destroy. They have attacked the life of the unborn, school prayer, biblical inscriptions in many public places, and now marriage. Many couples ask why should we marry? How about because in Hebrews 13:4 God says Marriage in honorable and only the marriage bed is undefiled?

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you join in prayer today for the institution of marriage, families, and the home as God designed it to be?

Brother, Where Art Thou

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 1:40-41 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

     I have heard some awesome, exciting, life changing news. Would you like to know what it is? Well sure you would, who wouldn’t. As much as you want to hear it, the person with the news feels like a bomb is about to go off inside them until they tell someone. That is how Andrew felt as He looked for his brother.

     Good news is only news if its shared. Otherwise, it is just good information. TV News shows exist to tell information that they feel you might want or need to know. That is when it becomes news. The word gospel means GOOD MESSAGE or GOOD NEWS. However, the Gospel is not really Good News until it is shared.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
