Don’t Forget… Many Have…

NOVEMBER 04, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 106:21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Often in the scripture we find Egypt used as a picture of the world around us. God brought the Children of Israel out of Egypt just as He takes His church out of the world today by salvation. God called the Children of Israel to be different from the rest of the world and their worldly beliefs as He has called today’s church to do the same. In the passage above, the Psalmist is clearly referring to the Jewish people. They were freed from their bondage in Egypt by the miracles God had done in the presence of the Pharaoh. This verse is referring to how God had freed them and provided for them in their journey. He had also prepared a land for them and turned it over to them when they arrived. Then He blessed the land and filled it with everything they could possibly need. However, all the things that God had given to them seemed to clutter their view of God. Over time, they had forgotten Him.

I do know this verse is about a time centuries ago. Nevertheless, the living Word of God is also proving Satan never changes his tactics. He is still using the same old tricks. People just forget. God brings a person out of sin, saves them, frees them from the bondage which sin once had on them, and gives them a brand-new home in heaven. God begins to bless their new life. The next thing you know, the things God has given them begins to cloud the view they once had of God. They forget from whom they received everything. Even a Nation that was once, “UNDER GOD…” now is UNDER ATTACK. The freedoms given by God are being taken away by Satan and the world. We all must remember who gave us this great land we love.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

From where did God bring you? Besides saving you from a place called hell and making a home for you in heaven someday, think of His daily blessing you enjoy. Think for a moment and remember God’s goodness to you. Then thank Him for all His blessing on you today. Thank Him for our country. Now show Him you care. He can do great things again if we will do our part and trust Him.

See No Evil?

NOVEMBER 03, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Job 31:1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

What have you promised your body lately?

Did you promise yourself if you would behave really good this week, not eat too much, and exercised a little that this weekend you could have a double chocolate fudge brownie with hot fudge on top, ground pecans with whip cream and a cherry on top? Did you promise your arms and legs a little R&R after working extra hard? Whether we think about it or not, we do make promises to ourselves. Some promises are better than others are.

However, what promises have you made to your eyes? What have you promised them besides maybe a little rest? Have you promised your eyes you would not look on anything sinful on purpose? Do you dare make yourself that promise? Could it be you are afraid perhaps this may cut into your TV programs? Would such a promise maybe change the magazines you read? Might it stop you from going somewhere you wanted to go? Can you make a covenant with your eyes, not to look at sin as satisfying, not to view filth as fine, and not to see worldliness as wisdom? Can you make this covenant… this promise… this contract… with your eyes?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

If you are a Christian, you somewhat already made this covenant when you gave yourself to God. See God detests looking at sin. It is sickening to Him when He sees it. Sin cost Him His only Son. Sin made Him watch as His Son Jesus was beaten, spit on, slapped, and crucified. God hates sin. When you look at sinful things in this world as a believer with the Holy Spirit in you, you take God with you. What did you make God through your eyes watch yesterday? What will you cause Him to look upon today?

NOVEMBER 02, 2021 – Why Do We Meet On Sunday?

Why Do We Meet On Sunday?

NOVEMBER 02, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Why do most Churches today meet on Sunday? Some have said we violate scripture by meeting on Sunday rather than the Jewish Sabbath Day. Some will say we meet on Sunday just because it was more convenient for merchants and farmers years back. Some have absolutely no idea at all why we meet on Sunday, they just come to church and worship. Truth be known, you can worship and should worship God on every day of the week. So why do we gather on Sunday?

Because the Bible gives an illustration of how we ought to conduct His Church. It tells us clearly, who should and should not be Pastors, Deacons, and leaders in God’s church. It tells us what we should be doing, singing psalms, praising God, and preaching His Word. Also, what we should not be doing, (Read the books of Corinthians. It is too long to spell out here.) The Bible also spells out for us what day the disciples meet with the Church to worship. Disciples are the followers and those who studied the Word of God. It says, “upon the first day of the week,” they gathered to break bread and preach the Word of God. Just as we do. The early church is our example. The Apostles lead the church. They too are our example. The first day of the week was then called the Lords Day, as it was the day our Lord rose from the tomb. Therefore, Jesus most of all is our example. Why do we meet on Sunday? Well, because we want to do as Gods Word says and gather together to worship our Lord and break bread on the first day of the week.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Did you take time this week to worship God with other believers? Did you gather with them in the House of God and hear the Word of God preached? Be sure to take time out to meet with God’s people. By doing so, you also meet with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Head of the church; the church is the body of Christ, and the Holy Spirit indwells the believer. “upon the first day of the week…” Join us.

NOVEMBER 01, 2021 – Do You Own Things Or Do Things Own You

Do You Own Things Or Do Things Own You

NOVEMBER 01, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 1:32-33 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever heard the saying “If you give a man enough rope, he will hang himself?” What does that mean? I believe it might have something to do with today’s verses. Why would people turn from the wisdom of the Word of God? Especially people who claim to believe there is one true God. I could somewhat understand a person who believes there might be another god or no god not paying any attention to the warnings in God’s Word. However, why would any person who says they believe there is a Jesus, God, and Holy Spirit turn from the wisdom of God’s Word? The problem may be that they believe “in” and not “on” God. It might just be they have been given enough rope to hang themselves.

Let me explain. It usually begins with just a little success, a little prosperity, a little of what the world calls happiness. As the days go by and quickly turn into weeks, months, and years people begin to feel safe in their success and fall into the trap of believing there is no way this will change. That is when it happens. They have begun to believe in themselves more than they believe in God. They might subconsciously think they do not need a God. In fact, some begin to wonder if there really is a God after all. They begin to subconsciously think, “Look how long I have gotten away with not obeying what the Bible says. I have had no problems, no worries, and no God helping me. I earned it all myself.” So, there you have it. As the verse above says, “the prosperity of fools” destroys them. In the end, they hang themselves with their own stuff. THINGS took them from God. THINGS kept them from God. THINGS send them to a place called Hell. Sadly, this is a place where they will have no more THINGS.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As you go through this day, look at the things you have acquired. As you see each one, take a moment to thank God who gave these things to you. Thank Him for it and ask Him how you might use it to glorify Him. In Colossians 1:16 it says that all THINGS were created by Him and for Him. If all THINGS are created for Him, you should thank Him for allowing you to play with His THINGS.

God Is Always There For You

OCTOBER 30 & 31, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Job 19:25-26 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever felt life was all going bad? Your entire day seemed to be one catastrophe after another. Nothing you did went right. At the end of the day, you just want to get in bed, cover your head, and pretend as if it all never happened. Tomorrow, you say, will have to be better. Well do not feel alone, everyone has had those days.

However, our worst day probably was not as bad as the worst day in Job’s life. He lost his home, his living, his livestock, his children, his servants, and his health. All he really had left was his wife, and she wanted him to curse God and die. Does your day seem so bad now?

During those bad times, if you are like most people, we tend to ask why God is doing this to me. What did I do to deserve this? So did Job, kind of. He asked why he was ever born in the first place. Why could he not have died at birth? Yup, now that is a bad day. However, in our verses today in Job 19:25, 26 Job says something interesting. He never gave up on God, and he knew God had not given up on him. Why, because he saw how God had been real to him in the good times. He had a real relationship with a real God and no number of bad days or terrible circumstances could make that go away.

Bad days come and go. You will probably have another one someday. (You probably did not want to hear that right now, right?) Nevertheless, one thing that will never change in your life is God.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

The Bible says that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. A preacher once said to me, “if you will get a grip on God’s hand in the daylight, you will not have to go searching for it in the dark.” That sounded good to me then and still seems like great advice today. Grab God’s hand, never let go, and let Him lead. Your bad day will not be as bad with God by your side.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
