WHO WILL BE IN HEAVEN?

MARCH 23, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Who will be in heaven? People have a variety of answers to this question..

Some want to believe that every person who was good here on earth will arrive on Heavens shore. The Bible says that is not so. Read John 3. Some feel if they do good works and are helpful toward others they might get in. The Bible again says this will not happen. It is not by works. Read Ephesians 2. So who then, and how then do we get into heaven? This small verse in Acts 2:21 explains so much.!

It says, “whosoever shall “call on” the name of the Lord.” Not those who just believe in a Jesus will get in. Many people in the bible saw and believed in a man named Jesus, but remained lost. It is not only believing it happened the way the Bible says it does, but we must also call on Jesus name. What does it mean then to call on? The Greek word is epikaleomai (pronounced ep-ee-kal-eh’-om-ahee if that matters to you.) It means to entitle; to invoke for aid, to worship, etc.: it also means to appeal to. It is more than just praying a prayer. It means believing in your heart what you are praying with your mouth. It is calling on Jesus because you have made a decision and are making an appeal to Him to entitle Him to be Lord of your life. (So much for the Greek Lesson today)

The great news in this verse is that salvation is available to everyone. Anyone can become part of the elect of Christ by calling on Him. There is not one person ever who cannot be saved. It says “whosoever…” and that includes us all.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Even after salvation we should continue to call on the Lord daily. Trusting in Jesus for all we need, and daily yielding our all to Him. However, it all begins with that first call on Him for our salvation. Have you made that call?

What’s invested?

MARCH 22, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

The stocks go up, the stocks go down, and this old-world spins round and round..

It seems as though wealth and riches are what consumes the minds of most people today. It is almost completely impossible to live without some money in the stock market whether we know it or not. Do you have insurance, 401 K, or have you deposited money in a bank? If so, and most have, then the money you placed there was invested on the stock market. If the market collapses, so does the value of that company or financial institution.

I heard a Financial Advisor tell a joke during his speech which went like, “I lost millions of dollars in the stock market today.” His friend said “really, how?” He said, “Gold went up one dollar a pound and I didn’t have a dime invested in it.”

Could it be possible that many people miss the real riches, honor, and for some, even eternal life because we have nothing invested as well? The phrase, “Nothing invested, nothing lost” sure does not apply here. If we do not deposit our life into Christ, we will have lost it all. Christ invested His life in us and paid the premium for our sin debt. Our text today says; “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” This simply means, if we invest our life into the Lord, we receive His riches, honor, and a life that is out of this world. In addition, the stock market can never affect this investment in any way whatsoever.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

The problem is most people want to invest a small amount of their life into Christ and hold back the rest. God does not work that way. We either deposit our entire life in Him or nothing. What have you given to Christ? We all must come humbly to the cross and make a total deposit of our life in reverence to our Lord. The dividends are glorious.

March 20 & 21, 2021 – Is Your Word Your Bond?

Is Your Word Your Bond?

MARCH 20 & 21, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Numbers 30:2If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

When I was young, I would hear the statement, “A Man’s Word Is His Bond.” You do not hear that statement so much anymore. Possibly the reason we do not hear it, is because people do not practice it too often. Everything now seems to have to be written on paper, signed by an army, and backed by the government before we believe it to be true. Even people getting married today begin their marriage with a lack of trust in one another or their bond of marriage. Engaged couples create pre-marital contracts in case the marriage fails. What a sad way to begin a life together, which is supposed to be one of trust and a bond of two becoming one. Instead, the marriage begins with a statement of distrust in a written contract of how later to dissolve the relationship.

Why is it important to God that our word is final, and a promise is to be carried out? Well, it goes back to Genesis where God stated that we are created in His image. You see, God wants us to be as much like Him as possible. One of the most wonderful characteristics is, “God Never Lies.” His Word is final, and His Word is true. Always.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As we begin to make promises today for the future, we should just stop and think for one moment, are we “SURE WE CAN DO WHAT WE SAY WE WILL DO?” This may seem easy, but keeping all of our, “off the cuff promises,” may present all of us with a task that is challenging from time to time. Every time we promise to pray for someone, do we. Or, if we tell God that if He answers a prayer, we will do something for Him. Then He does His part, and we do not. Making promises is easy. Keeping them is sometimes a challenge. However, to do so, to be an honest trustworthy person, makes us more like Christ. Is your word your bond?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

HE SLAPPED GOD!

MARCH 19, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 18:22 And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Can you even imagine a mortal man literally reaching out his hand and slapping the face of The Almighty God in the person of His Son Jesus Christ?

First, there is the fact that God even allowed it to happen. The same God who parted the Red Sea for His children of Israel and then let the waters fall and destroy Pharaoh and his army which followed them. This is the same powerful God who opened the earth and swallowed alive several of the children of Israel for disobedience in the desert. The same God who commands the winds, the waves, the sun, the stars, and controls all that is, allowed a simple man to slap His Son and in doing so slap the face of God.

Then there are those who stood around. People who realized that Jesus was the Messiah. Those who openly had said they loved Him and would follow Him. Yet they allowed this man to strike the face of the one they said they loved. Would they have died if they had stepped forward? Possibly, but that is what they said they would do. Even die for Him.

Then there is the Officer Himself. Who after hearing that this was possibly the Son of God, the King of Kings, The Jewish Messiah, he chose still to reach out his hand and strike our Lord in the face. It is hardly imaginable.

But wait, look in the palm of that officer’s hand. What is written there? I can hardly believe my eyes. It is my name. It was I who caused this to happen. As this hand swipes across the face of my Lord, it bears in it the image of me and my sin. It was I who has beaten the precious body of my Lord. It is my fault.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In Isaiah 53:5 it says: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed” Oh Lord, forgive me for all I put you through. AMEN.

MARCH 18, 2021 – In Search Of YOU!

In Search Of YOU!

MARCH 18, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 18:2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Many new books have been published over the years trying to help people find themselves. Self Esteem is a buzzword. The idea behind it all is that if you do not feel good about yourself, how can you even hope to survive?

The sad thing is, when most people get to the end of the long road to find out the truth, they are often disappointed. If you do a real honest self-examination, you will find you are just like everyone else. A different talent and a different way of life maybe, but other than material differences, we are all pretty much the same. We are no better and no worse than anyone else trudging around this big old mudball we call earth.

The searching of one’s self is often driven by self-pride. Can you imagine spending a lifetime searching, only to find that we are all just sinful creatures searching for the truth? Real truth will lead you to God. God’s Word tells us that man really does not want to know the truth, what they want is to believe a lie. People want to hear that somehow; they are better or in some way different from the rest of the world. When the truth is, to find our real value in life, we must first have God in our life. Once we make God the director of our life, He will show us just what He created us to be. Isn’t that what we really want? Not to know whom we are, but to know what we may become?

I heard it once said, “Life is a stage, and we are all actors there in.” The question then is, who is directing the continuing saga of your life?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Giving our heart to the Lord is a one-time thing. You only need to accept Christ as Saviour once to be eternally secure in that salvation. However, giving our life over to God can be a daily struggle. Let’s just bow our hearts to the Lord today and tell Him, “I am here today to serve you Lord. Make of me what you need me to be. Be the director of my life today. Amen.”
