Still The Same Today

JANUARY 12, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 25-26 / Matthew 9:1-17

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Such a simple statement from Jesus, yet still a struggle for many today. Jesus said He wanted them to know that He had the power to forgive sin on earth. Do you believe it? Many people act as though they believe God can forgive sin, but struggle with Him actually doing it in their lives. It is not that they do not believe He can, but they wonder if He did for them.

Let me ask, why would Jesus come to a sin-filled earth, shed His sinless blood on Calvary, be buried, be raised from the dead, ascend back to heaven, sit down at the right hand of God, and then not forgive you? Wasn’t that the idea of his coming?

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What sin do you believe it is that He cannot handle? Will you believe?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

Daily Reading—Genesis 24 / Matthew 8

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People love to feel special. To be recognized as chosen or elect. The Jews thought that way, as they, in fact, were God’s chosen people. However, in today’s verse, we hear Jesus telling a gentile he would sit in the Kingdom of Heaven. Not only he, but also many like him would get in, and many of the Jews would not.

How great it is to know that in God’s eyes, everyone is special. I like the phrase, “At the foot of the cross, the ground is level.” What got the man in today’s passage into the Kingdom is the same thing that gets all people in. No matter the race, denomination, or gender, faith in Christ is the key that opens the gates to heaven.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How can you share that faith today?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are one or two things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, reread those passages for today’s reading. God has given your pastor exactly what He desires for you to have on that day.

Daily Reading—Genesis 21-23 / Matthew 7

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 7:28-29 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

If a man builds a boat from scratch, he remembers every detail about it. He recalls the splinters and how to avoid them. He recalls the hours invested and the sacrifices made to build a vessel that will withstand the storms and hold up over time. If a man reads about building a boat, he can only share what he has read.

When Jesus taught with authority, it was because He knew what it took to build a life. Not like the scribes who read about it yet never met the builder. Christians have met the builder. Better yet, we have a testimony of what He built into our lives.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

When you share Christ with others, do you speak as one with authority?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Trust In God’s Care

JANUARY 8, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 18-20 / Matthew 6:16-34

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your
heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better
than they?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Some have read this verse and feel they must do nothing. They read it as though God is going to supply, so I do not have to do anything. Read it again. God cares for the birds, but they still must look for, go, and retrieve the worms He has set out for them.

Others read this and live as if they don’t believe it. They think they have done everything on their own. They forget who gave them oxygen and health.

God loves and cares for us. Look at how He keeps all of nature in balance. This includes us.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How much more do you believe He cares for you than birds?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?

It’s Special!

JANUARY 7, 2026
Daily Reading—Genesis 15-17 / Matthew 6:1-15

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

“Hallowed be thy Name.” The term “Hallowed” is not one we use too often today. However, Hallowed is so important in this prayer. You see, God’s name is special. “Hallowed” means set apart from all others, Holy, Sanctified, or Pure. It is not like Frank or George. It is special. It says in the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20:7, “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” In essence, He is saying, “My Name is special; treat it so.”

Sadly, today, we all too often hear people use Jesus, Oh God, or Christ as part of comments that have nothing to do with Him.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How can we Hallow His name in our hearts and help others do the same?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?
