Ready Or Not!

FEBRUARY 9, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 31-33 /  Matthew 24:27-51

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Do you remember playing hide and seek as a child? One person would be at the goal, counting, while everyone else would go hide. I remember how frustrating it was for me while trying to hide, to continually find other kids in the places I wanted to hide. Then, before I could hide, I would hear, “Ready or not, here I come.” I was not ready and got caught.

Worse than being caught in hide and seek will be anyone not ready when Jesus returns. We must be hidden in the righteousness of Christ when He comes, or our sinfulness will be exposed. It appears that many today believe they have all the time in the world to prepare. However, the Bible says He may come at any time.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you ready for His return?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

It Sure Is Cold

FEBRUARY 7 & 8, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 29-30 /  Matthew 24:1-26

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 24:11-12 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

It sure is cold today. No, I am not talking about the weather. I am talking about the atmosphere inside the church. Today, there are more ways of getting the gospel out than ever before. More Bibles in print, more people on the planet, more finances available, and more methods to get the message out. Yet, today, there is also more coldness in the heart of man and in God’s church than ever before. How can this be?

I think Jesus answered that question in today’s passage. There are more false prophets, more deception, and many in it for money and not for souls. Jesus began this passage with a warning in Matthew 24:4: “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.” Still a good warning for today.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What is the temperature of your heart today?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, reread those passages for today’s reading. God has given your pastor exactly what He desires for you to have on that day.

Daily Reading—Exodus 27-28 / Matthew 23:23-39

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

WHAT I’VE NOTICED

It was evident that Jesus loved the children of Israel. He speaks of how He would have loved to gather them together to protect and love them in the same way that a mother loves her children. There is no greater picture of earthly love than that of a mother’s love for her child.

Today, Jesus loves the church with that same love. We read in Eph. 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Sadly, just as Israel would not allow Jesus to gather them and love them, many today will not gather with the church that Jesus loves so much.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Is it possible that today, when Jesus looks at the church,
He loves and protects as His bride,
He may be saying, Oh church, church, “and ye would not?”

Say It! Do It

FEBRUARY 5, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 25-26 /  Matthew 23:1-22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 23:2-3 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Most of us have heard the phrase, “Do what I say, not what I do.” Most often, we find this being said by someone who is doing something illegal, immoral, or harmful in some way. In addition, it’s often used with children by adults who do not want these children to follow in their footsteps down the wrong path.

In today’s passage, that is what Jesus was telling the people of that day. In the synagogue was a seat called Moses’ Seat. It was a place of authority. When they sat there, they would read the law as it was written. Jesus said, Listen to the reading; it is the Word of God. However, do not watch the lives of the teachers; they do not live up to what they are teaching.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

If someone were examining your life today,
would it live up to what you say about your relationship with God?
You know, people are watching you?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

Daily Reading—Exodus 23-24 / Matthew 22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The Sadducees, like some today, believed that when a person dies, they are dead. However, they are not. The body may wait for the resurrection, but the soul lives on. The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection. They took all they knew from the first five books of the Bible and argued that there was no afterlife. Some today believe that when a person dies, their soul goes to the grave with them. Jesus, using a statement from the first five books, tells them it is not so. Jesus said that God said, “I am the God of,” not, I was the God of. He is God of the living, not the dead.

That is why Paul said in 2 Cor. 5:8, for the believer, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The soul immediately goes to be with God.

Do you believe eternal life is eternal, or interrupted?
