Will You Be A Barnabas
JULY 8, 2026
Daily Reading—Ezra 1-3 / Acts 10:23-48
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 9:26-27 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Saul was not a kind person. Not very kind at all. At least, the Saul of the past that is. He would go around, gathering up those who professed faith in Christ, and bring them back to be executed for their faith. He even gained the authority from those in power to do so. Therefore, when he accepted Christ as Saviour, many people were very skeptical of his salvation and afraid of him. Yet Barnabas stood up for him, and with him.
Sometimes young Christians get the same feeling that people do not really believe they are saved. The sin in their past, though washed away by the blood of Christ, makes some people skeptical. Sometimes the new believer needs a Barnabas to stand with them in their new life in Christ.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Would you help someone in their new life and be someone’s Barnabas?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
