Daily Reading—Ezra 4-7 / Acts 11
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
There is a chorus we sing which says, “I shall not be, I shall not be moved.” The Chorus is saying that God’s Word is solid and that we should live by what it says. However, we need to know what God has really said, not what man has implied. We sometimes get so entrenched in our religion that we no longer care if God said it or not; that’s just how we do it.
Peter did not eat certain foods he called “common.” God met him in a vision and said, “What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.” God had challenged Peter’s traditions. Sometimes the Bible will challenge our traditions as well. God said He cleanses and washes away sin. Yet sometimes we have trouble believing that sin is gone from others and us.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
When God says it is clean, doesn’t that make it clean?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
