They Changed Their Minds
AUGUST 7, 2026
Daily Reading—Psa. 22-26 / Rom. 1
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 28:6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
In Acts 28, the folks on the island of Melita changed their minds a few times. First, they welcome everyone off the boat and treat them kindly. After a poisonous snake bit Paul, they saw him as a criminal getting what was coming to him. When the poison had no effect, they changed their mind again and saw him as a god.
Things around us will indeed at times cause us to change our minds. The Bible says in Matt. 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” People are watching everything we do as Christians and listening to all we say.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
We sure do not want people to see us as gods,
but how great would it be if they instead saw our God in us?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
