In The Presence Of Them All
AUGUST 6, 2026
Daily Reading—Psa. 18-21 / Acts 28:17-31
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 27:35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Many Christians pray at home around the dinner table. We give thanks for meals at church when we are enjoying fellowship. But what about in a restaurant full of people? How about in the break room at work, or at a class reunion? Do we dare pray in public, even when the people we are with possibly do not pray?
Today’s verse says Paul “gave thanks to God in presence of them all.” I am not suggesting we need to stand on a table, call for attention, and shout a loud prayer. However, we ought never be ashamed to bow our heads and thank God for His provision for life. After praying in public, I have had people stop by my table to say, “We do not see that much anymore.”
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Will you thank God today, in the presence of them all?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
