Not Just A Bunch Of Words
OCTOBER 21, 2026
Daily Reading—Isa. 53-58 / 1 Thess. 3-4
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
I find it interesting that when I preach the Word of God, I will receive a wide range of reactions. Some go away unmoved by anything said. Some say, “That was a good message,” and mean it. Others will come by later and say, “A week or so ago, something you said in a message has been weighing on my heart.” To some, it was a long service; to others, a good reminder. Yet, for a few, it was more than just a bunch of words. The power of God’s Word has changed their lives.
For some, the words fall on deaf ears. Others think, “I’m glad so-and-so is here; they need this.” Some come expecting the Holy Spirit will use God’s Word to change their walk with Him. What you desire matters.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
What do you get from the message of God’s Word?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
