JULY 30, 2026—I’m Free Born

I’m Free Born

Acts 22:27-28 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea. And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

Roman citizenship had many protections. One was that it was against Roman law to scourge a Roman citizen. When Paul told those around that He was a Roman, everything stopped. The captain said he had bought his citizenship, which was a common practice. For a price, you could be a Roman citizen. Paul said, “I’m free born,” which meant His father, by purchase, reward for service, or ancestry, was a Roman citizen.

Citizenship has privileges, but friend, you cannot purchase citizenship in heaven. The price is too high, and no amount of money can do so. Yet our heavenly Father paid the price for our citizenship with the blood of His Son, Jesus. If you have been adopted into the family through faith, you can also say, “I’m Free Born.” My father paid the price for me.
