Really? Anything?

Daily Reading—Isa. 40-41 / Col. 2
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Philippians 4:12-13 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Too often, we will hear the statement Paul made in Phil. 4:13 taken out of context. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” People ask, really, anything? YES, really, anything. That is anything Christ would do or have us do. God was not doing things for Paul, but rather with Paul. We must be willing to be used for Christ’s purposes first.
Paul says in verse 12, I get by with very little in life, and I handle wealth without letting it control me. He had times of plenty and times when there was not so much. What he is saying is that he can handle all of life’s situations through Christ, who strengthens him. In verse 19, Paul says, Be content, God will supply your need.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Do we desire God’s help to live daily for Him, or some superhuman strength to show off?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
