Jesus, Our Example
MARCH 30, 2026
Daily Reading—Deuteronomy 28 / Luke 4:14-44
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Many people today no longer call themselves by denominational names. Instead, they do not attend conventional churches but rather call themselves followers of Jesus. However, when we read scripture, it says it was Jesus’ custom to go to the synagogue on the Sabbath. Jesus has set the example.
Our day of worship may have changed to Sunday once the Lord rose from the tomb on that day, but our custom of gathering should have remained the same. True followers of Jesus should find themselves with a custom, a pattern, a habit in life of attending church with other followers.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?:
Are you really following Jesus?
If so, where will you be this Sunday?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?
