Grace FIRST!
AUGUST 28, 2026
Daily Reading—Psa. 109-113 / 1 Co. 3
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
In Paul’s letters to the churches, we find a common thread in his greetings to them. He opens with grace first and follows with peace. For example, we read in 1 Corinthians 1:3 “Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” This is not just a grammatical habit for Paul. It is his belief in the truth that grace precedes peace.
Paul also wrote Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” You see, without God’s grace, there would be no salvation. Without salvation, there can be no lasting peace. Grace must always come first before any real peace.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Isn’t God’s grace amazing?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
