Let’s Go For A Walk

October 05
Daily Reading – Song of Solomon 1-3 / Galatians 5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

A good friend named Wade, who is in heaven today, suffered many heart attacks. They put in stents, did bypasses, replaced arteries, and did all they could do. His doctor told him one thing he had to do to keep his repaired heart strong, was to walk. He said, “I don’t care how fast you walk, but walk 30 minutes a day.” Some of my best memories of Wade were on the days we took those 30-minute walks together. We talked, laughed, and even shed a tear for people we knew.

If you want to grow close to God, you need to walk with Him. Laugh, talk, even shed a tear over things that break His heart and yours. You’ll find if you walk with God, you won’t desire to walk with the world at the same time.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Do you have on your walking shoes?

What Is The Promise?

October 04
Daily Reading – Ecclesiastes 11-12 / Galatians 4:19-31

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul says in this verse we are children of the promise. But just what is that promise?

If you go back to Galatians 3:26 you’ll read; “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” In 3:29 it says; “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” But what is the promise? The promise is that if we know Christ as Saviour, we are heirs together with Him. Romans 8:16-17 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Now isn’t that a wonderful promise?

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Are you an heir to the promise?

Can You Handle The Truth?

October 03
Daily Reading – Ecclesiastes 8-10 / Galatians 4:1-18

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In the movie “A Few Good Men,” Jack Nicholson was told during cross-examination, “I want the truth.” To which he replied, “You can’t handle the truth!”

There are times when we think people can’t handle the truth so we say nothing. Often times we don’t tell them the truth because we don’t want them to be angry with us. Rather than risk losing a friend, we let them live in danger. Imagine you saw a young child playing on the highway. Down the road you saw a semi coming, but looked and saw the child was having a great time. Would you let the child play in the highway, or tell him the truth? People today are living in a highway of sin. Death is the semi coming.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Will you be the one to warn them?
Will you tell them the truth?

God’s GPS

October 02
Daily Reading – Ecclesiastes 4-7 / Galatians 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 3:24-25 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

GPS systems are great. Well, sometimes. It depends on how accurately you program them. If you enter very specific address information, road types you want to travel, etc., they will normally bring you to where you need to be. However, once you’ve memorized the route, you no longer need the GPS.

God’s word is much like the GPS, directing us where we need to be. God’s word confronts our sinfulness and leads us to Jesus as our Saviour. That’s what Paul was saying in today’s verse. The law was our schoolmaster or GPS that brought us to Christ. The law cannot and did not save us, it leads us to our Saviour. Once Jesus is in our heart, we follow Him, not the law.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Could GPS be God’s Plan Of Salvation?

Dead Man Walking

October 1
Daily Reading – Ecclesiastes 1-3 / Galatians 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

“Dead Man Walking.” This phrase is normally used to describe a death row inmate as they walk to the execution chambers. It’s also used as slang term for someone heading to the boss’s office to be terminated. These are living people about to face a sudden end.

In Galatians 2:20 Paul gives us another picture of a, “Dead Man Walking.” Paul said, we as believers are already dead, yet still walking around. Not someone about to die. On the contrary, we’re already dead, “crucified with Christ.” We will therefore never face eternal death and damnation, “Nevertheless I live.” Oh Christian friend, get out there be ALIVE For Jesus today. He loves you and gave Himself so you can LIVE!

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Nothing New Today

September 30
Daily Reading – Proverbs 29-31 / Galatians 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Every so many years we see a new fad pop up on the church horizon. When it does, people flock to it by the thousands. It may the music, programming, some new electronic gizmo, or whatever. None of which in themselves are bad if used for the right reasons and in a right way. However, as we’ve seen, many times, with the new whatever it is, comes a new more modern and often twisted teaching of religion. That’s a problem.

Paul warned the church many years ago there’s no new gospel. You can shine a new light, or sing a new song, but you can’t develop a new gospel. If you add to it, or subtract from it, it’s a lie. Some things can change to update ministries. However, my friend the message can never change.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

  Isn’t that GOOD NEWS?

A Bit Of Advice

September 29
Daily Reading – Proverbs 26-28 / 2 Corinthians 13

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In closing out his second letter to the church, Paul gives them a bit of advice that’s still good advice today. These traits can’t be overlooked as a kind goodbye. Each of them takes some deliberate thought and work.

Be perfect, – Not having arrived, but be perfected.
Be of good comfort, – Comfort one another in Christ.
Be of one mind, – Study to have one mind in Christ.
Live in peace, – Live in Christ, the author of real peace.

Paul is saying if we strive to live this way and do these things then, “the God of love and peace shall be with you.” Not only is He with us in the sense of, He never leaves us, but God is also with us helping in our daily walk.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Isn’t that a bit of great advice?

Shine For Him

September 28
Daily Reading – Proverbs 24-25 / 2 Corinthians 12

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Why is it that Christian’s go through such horrible times? Well, what I’m about to say won’t fix your awful times. It may however give you reason to endure them.

During those days when you’re doing ok, you’re happy, and there’s not a care in the world, it may be hard for the world to see you as any different from most others in the world. However when we face trials and adversities and still praise God in the midst of them, that is when God shines through. You see the world is watching us. Praising God in the good times, well that just makes sense. However praising God in the midst of trials, my friend that is supernatural. I told you this would not make the trials go away.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

  However, isn’t shining for Jesus
worth a little bit of it all?

It’s A Disguise

September 27
Daily Reading – Proverbs 23 / 2 Corinthians 11

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 11:13-14 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The autumn season has crept into our lives. The air is a bit crisper, the daylight is dwindling, and the leaves on the trees turn color to beautify the time of year. It’s time to prepare for the winter ahead. However, before Winter arrives, on Oct. 31 many will get dressed up in disguises and go trick-or-treating for Halloween.

When I read Paul’s warning about false apostles, and deceitful workers transforming themselves, I’m reminded of these little children in disguises. The word transforming in 2 Cor. 11:13-15 means they disguised themselves. Paul warned the church then, as God warns us today, don’t be fooled by the fancy disguises. Measure everything by God’s Word.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Will you be fooled by the worlds tricks
with no lasting treat?

Imagine That

September 26
Daily Reading – Proverbs 21-22 / 2 Corinthians 10

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Imagination. The part of us that dreams big things. It’s brought the greatest inventions to humanity. What a wonderful gift God has given us, to sit and imagine things. Imagination allows us picture in our minds how angels appear, what heaven is like, and our mansion there. Imagination is such a wonderful gift.

However, just like every good gift God has given man, Satan has tried to pervert our imagination. Ephesians 6 calls them fiery darts used to twist our thoughts toward sin. That’s why we have the shield of our faith and helmet of salvation. We can filter all our thoughts with God’s Word. Then if they don’t glorify God, we cast them aside. God has given us another gift to preserve His first gift.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

  Can you imagine that?
