KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 65:3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever heard the phase “there is trouble on every side” or “trouble is everywhere?” Today it seems to be so. We turn on a radio and hear someone using vulgar language. On TV, sinful lifestyles are not only portrayed but also applauded. In advertising today, sex is used to sell everything from shampoo to ladies underwear. Wickedness seems to prevail on the street, in our workplace, in our towns, and even now in some churches which have turned a blind eye to the truth of scripture. Sadly, with sin so prevalent today, we find ourselves tempted, and yes even falling into some of this worldly life from time to time. However for the true Christian this is quickly followed by a time of guilt for our sin and shame in front of God and others.

The psalmist had the right feelings when he cried to the Lord “iniquities prevail against me.” His sin became an overwhelming burden to carry. Nevertheless, the last part of the verse can make the first part null and void by the blood of Jesus Christ.

There are not a lot of places we can look any longer and not see sin, except up. Look up to Jesus. If you have trusted in Him as Lord and Saviour the Bible says He is the Author and the Finisher of your faith. Ask Him for forgiveness, walk away from the sin in your life, and He shall truly purge them away. Jesus paid it all.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

James Nicholson penned the words in a song by the same name that fits so well here. “Whiter than snow, yes whiter than snow; now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.”  Even so Lord Jesus. Amen.

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

          Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Would you like to know about a real long verse in the Bible? It may not be long in the amount of words used, but it sure is in the time to which it refers. Isaiah 61:2 talks about “the acceptable year of the LORD” and “the day of vengeance of our God.” Jesus read these very words in the Synagogue in Luke 4:16-21. He read up to the point of where He said “To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD” and then He stopped and closed the book. Why? Well in Luke 4:21 He answered that question when He said “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” “The acceptable year of the LORD,” or the first coming of the Lord had come. These people were faced with a choice. Believe Jesus was God in the flesh, or believe He was liar. They made the wrong choice and tried to kill Him.

We today are still faced with the same choice. The first part of the verse became fact in the person of Jesus Christ. However, there is a part to this verse yet to deal with. The day of vengeance has not yet come. This will happen at the second coming of our Lord to the earth. A lot has happened between His first coming and the awaiting of His second coming. Nevertheless, just like part one is fact of the past, part two is just as much a future fact. So what will you do with this truth today?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus. His grace was sufficient then, but many rejected it. His grace is sufficient today. However, He will not always extend that grace. Now is the time. Today is the day of salvation.

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 61:8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

The psalmist understood what it takes to keep our word and promises to God. It takes our praise toward God. The Bible also makes it clear that God inhabits our praise. The Bible says in Psalm 22:3 “….O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” This verse is probably referring to the tabernacle of praise, a special place where the children of Israel came to worship God. God promised to dwell with them in the Holy of Holies, in the tabernacle which was built according to His specification. Today our body is the tabernacle where God, through the Holy Spirit, dwells. In addition, today He still desires the sincere praise and worship from His children.

The Psalmist said praising God helped him daily perform his vows or keep his promises to God. What promises have you made to God? When you came to Him for salvation, did you promise to love Him? Then praise Him for the love He has shown you, the love He has given you, and the love He placed within you, which enables you to love Him and others in return. Did you promise to make Him Lord of your life? Then praise Him for taking someone like you and adopting you into His family. Thank Him for being willing to be your Lord and Provider. Thank Him for allowing you to serve Him in so many ways and for not expecting more of you than what He created you to be. Begin to praise the Lord and see if it is true. The Lord does inhabit your praise.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Oh how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus, Oh how I love Jesus, Because He First Loved Me… What vows have you made to the Lord? It’s time to praise Him today.

LIHW3     BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

  KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Isaiah 52:14 As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

The Bible records the days and hours before the crucifixion of Jesus. It tells of how He was beaten with a whip which had large pieces of metal or stone tied into it. With every strip laid on Jesus it tore large pieces of flesh from His back. During the time of which He was held, he was beaten by hand and with a rod. He was spit on, and had large amounts of hair pulled from His face and scalp, leaving bare flesh bleeding in its place. A crown made of spike like thorns was pressed upon His head which caused blood to flow down His face. He was blindfolded, slapped, and asked to say who had done this. He was led up a stony path carrying the weight of the cross that was to hold Him up to His death. Falling under the weight of this cross, He landed on the stony path that dug into His flesh. Nailed through His hands and feet, and a spear thrust in His side.

Is it any wonder that Isaiah’s prophesy says that people were astonied, or in our words today, horrified, to see Him in such a condition? To look at Him you would barely recognize Him as a man, much less King of Kings. Yet 500-700 years before Jesus was crucified, in a manner unthinkable to the Jews of the day, God gave a revelation to Isaiah of what would happen to the true Messiah. Moreover, it happened, just as He said.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Oh, what a terrible picture we get in our mind of our beloved Saviour on that day. However, what a great truth is here. God did not hold back the gruesome truth in His revelation to Isaiah of the horror which would come to His Son. Neither did He mistake the truth when He shares of Jesus’ glorious resurrection. God did not hold back on the truth when it was bad or good. God did the same with the truth of our home in Heaven and His coming one day. Praise God for the Hope to come. Keep looking up.

> Wednesday, September 3, 2014 – Toss in a tip.

Transparent logoBACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

  KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 3:9-10Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

My wife and I like to go out to eat occasionally. No fancy places mind you, nor dumps either; just a clean place to sit and be served a good meal. At lunch one day the lady who waited on us was very courteous. The food was delivered promptly and was good. It came time to pay the bill and I added the tip to the bill as I paid it. As we left my wife asked, “How much did you leave her?” I said “I left 15% of the bill.” She looked at me with the, I cannot believe you look. (Guys you know what look I mean.) Then she said, “That’s not enough, you should be leaving about 20% with today’s prices the way they are.” Hey, I’m sorry, but no one had told me of the etiquette change, and besides, didn’t the price of the meal go up too? Anyway, to make a long story short, I now try to leave 20% or more.

I said all that to say this. When was the last time you sat in church, the offering plate comes by, and you tossed in your offering, then someone says, “You know we ought to be putting in more today with the way prices are.” I’m sure that never happened. How about at least giving a tithe? Some people have such a hard time giving 10% to God who gave them everything they have, but have no problem giving a waitress 15-20% tips who just brought them a burger. Maybe we ought to forget tithing and start tipping God.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Really, we should not be guided by a tithe. From a loving heart for God, we should be willing to give to the Lord through the local church to help tell others what He can do for them. The Bible says honor God with our firstfruits, and He in turn will have no problem blessing us. It’s not the money He wants; it’s the heart of gladness toward Him.

Tuesday, September 2, 2014 – Read the owner’s manual.

LIHW logo BurgndyBACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

Tiny Prints Cyber MondayKEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

At one point in my life I bought a mini-van and a 100,000-mile warranty. During the time I had the warranty, if anything would go wrong with my mini-van, I would take it to the manufacturer’s representative to have it repaired. Once the warranty was up, (and as I’m sure you’re aware, more things began breaking after the 100,000 miles than before), I took it to another mechanic I knew. He referred continually to the manual for the minivan. When I brought it in and told him of a funny noise it was making, he got out a book, looked to see what parts were going to cost and what parts needed to be removed to replace that part. Why have those books? They were printed because the manufacture of the mini-van knew what mechanics would need to know to repair it.

Today our world is in a mess. People no longer count God as the one true God. Everyone thinks they have a better way of fixing things. This may sound new and unique to our time, however it is not. Even when Jesus was living here on earth, people were rejecting him. They saw the miracles and still wondered if He was for real. We have the owner’s manual to life in the word of the scripture. He tells us how to fix the situations of life. However, people do not want to look in the book. Through the church and the Holy Spirit, God is still in the world He made. He is still among the people who He created. Yet they still are rejecting His advice. It’s like tossing out the owner’s manual.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Even God’s people seem to be too lazy to read the book for advice. They want to have the preacher or television tell them what God has said. You must be careful. There are still wolves in sheep’s clothing. If you don’t know the Book, how will you know if they’re right? READ THE OWNERS MANUAL! GOD’S WORD.

Monday, September 1, 2014 – Thinking of heaven.

LIHW3     BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE
Personalized Princess Books

 KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 57:11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

What comes to mind when someone says heaven? Do you think of Golden streets, Mansions, Angels, No sickness, No sin, and No work? How about rain? How about sunshine or storm clouds? What about birds and blue skies? Do any of those things come to mind? Usually not. Why, because we forget about the first heaven we can see right above us every day. Cloudy skies filled with birds, planes, and the wind that blows fill this wide-open heaven above.

How about the Moon? Do you think of the moon when you think of heaven? Are your thoughts of heaven ever filed with Mars, Venus, The Milky Way, Stars, planets, solar systems, and galaxies? This is the second heaven. It’s the outer limits of space we cannot really see completely with the naked eye. The second heaven is a vast region beyond our wildest imagination.

No, these are not what we usually think of when we think of heaven. We think of the third Heaven where we all want to go and be with Jesus someday. However our Psalmist today did not forget any of Gods created heavens. He said let God be exalted above the heavens and above all the earth. We don’t need to wait to get to the third heaven which we have never seen to praise God. Let us praise Him that He might be exalted today above the heavens which we have seen and can see every day.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

When we need to think of the magnitude of our God, just look up in the heavens and see all He created and controls. All of which He is above and beyond. What a magnificent God we serve. What an Awesome God.

Saturday, August 30, 2014 – Don’t doubt God.

LIHW logo Burgndy    BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGEKEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 22:23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Jesus had just told the Disciples that one of them was going to betray Him. The Disciples began to turn to each other and ask, “Is It I?” Doubt was something Satan was using way back in the days of the Disciples.

Deception and doubt are some of Satan’s greatest tools. If Satan can get you to doubt your walk with God, doubt your salvation, doubt your testimonies effectiveness, and doubt your place of service for Him, then he can get you to be less than what God intended for you to be.

In Matthew 14:31 when Peter was sinking in the sea Jesus reached out and caught him and said; “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” Later in Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus told His disciples, “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Jesus understood the problem with doubt. He also knew how Satan would use it.

Let’s not give place to Satan in our lives with doubt about anything God has told us is true. Our Salvation is secure, He promised. Our position in Him is sure, He said so. Our service to Him will bring rewards, He proclaimed it. In addition, Satan, who brings about doubt, is defeated, Christ beat him.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In 2 Timothy 1:7 it says; “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Let’s not let the devil tempt us with doubt and fear. We should proclaim with a loud voice, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand all other ground is so surely sinking sand.”
