2014 CFR Banners 2 onlyKEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

When you were younger, (Or maybe now,) have you ever played hide and go seek? I am sure you have at one time or another. I remember as a child how I hated to play with some people because I just knew they were cheating. I had some really good hiding places and they would say 99, 100…Ready or not here I come and they would walk right to where I was. I know they had to be looking, peeking, and not playing fair.

Now I am not implying God does not play fair, but he is always peeking. No matter how good you think your hiding place is, He can see you. By the way, He never said He would close His eyes in the first place. In fact, He has warned us all along, I Am Watching You…

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Why would we want to play hide and seek with God anyway? If real trouble comes, don’t we want Him to be able to see and help? Yes, we do. Take a moment and thank Him today for being ever vigilant over your life.

Monday, April 14, 2014 – Who knows more, God, or a Scientist?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 89:37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven.  Selah

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

It was reported on May 29th in 1996 a small asteroid passed 280,000 miles from the earth. Just a little bit farther away than our moon. It was said if it had hit the earth; it could have destroyed an area the size of an average state in the US. It was also reported that it could have taken us out of orbit, destroying earth and the moon, which orbits us. Every so often, we hear of a meteor or asteroid that is going to hit the moon or the earth and destroy it.

Honestly, I do not believe we as Christians ever have to worry about the earth being destroyed by an asteroid or meteor as long as we remain on this planet. Thousands of smaller asteroids hit the earth and the moon often, leaving small craters as their aftermath. So why can I be so sure there will not be one which will destroy our moon and us? Because, I believe the Bible is true. If an asteroid that large does come, it will be after the rapture of the church and God will use it as part of His judgment on this earth. In addition, I hate to ruin their fun, but the Bible says the moon will be a faithful witness forever. How long is forever anyway?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

All too often science has been the proof of the Bible’s accuracy. However, when it comes to believing science or the Bible, I believe God’s word. He’s been around a lot longer than the scientists have.

BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Philippians   4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

“Do as I say, not as I do!” Have you ever heard those words? Many people today who work in the factories and business of this world have. If those exact words were not said, they are sure implied by what is seen and lived out.

As parents, we are sometimes guilty of giving our children the same idea of what is right and wrong. We tell our children “You’ll do so because I said so. It doesn’t matter what I do, you do as I say.”

The truth is it does matter what we do. In fact, it matters a great deal. People will do what they see being done quicker than what they are told to do. In our verse, Paul says those things which I have taught you, which you understood, or you heard me saying and saw me doing; those are the things you should do. He was simply saying, “Watch me, listen to me, follow me, copy me; I’ll be your example of a Christian.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Can you tell people to watch you and you will show them what it means to be a Christian? Follow me and I will show you where you should and should not go. Listen to me and you will hear what Christians should sound like. Let me share a little secret with you today. It really doesn’t matter if you told people to watch you or not. When they heard you were a Christian, they began to watch. Where might you lead them?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 11:22 As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

I was walking down the street the other day and saw a woman walking her dog. This was not so strange, except for the fact that the dog had on a sweater. Now it may have just been me, but it seemed like the dog was really moving fast and kept looking left to right, right to left as if to say, “I sure hope none of my dog friends see me dressed this way.”

Now I know, some of you dress your dogs this way, and I guess if it makes you happy to dress up your dog as children do their dolls it never hurts anything. There actually might be some good to it if it’s really cold out or something. However, one thing we need to keep in mind is, under that sweet little cardigan, there is still a dog. You can paint their toenails a rainbow of colors, give them a cute hair cut which often cost more than your hair cut did, and put ribbons in their hair, but they’re still dogs.

What’s the point in all this? You are the same way. You can dress up the outside and clean up nice. You might say the right things and go to the right places. Nevertheless, if you have never accepted Jesus as your Saviour, under all that, you’re still lost.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Our verse today speaks of people with no discretion. It’s about the inside and the outside of our lives matching. Being not only a verbal testimony of what has happened inside our life but a visible one as well. Do you look like the world and claim Jesus? How do they know your saved then if they never get close enough for you to tell them? Do you look like the others at church and still not know Jesus as your Saviour? Cleanliness does not get you into heaven my friend. It’s time for the insides and outsides to match!

Thursday, April 10, 2014 – What A Friend.

2014 CFR Banners

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 86:7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Some people say they don’t need friends. They have the “I can do it on my own” attitude. Well, either these people are a lot stronger than I am, or they are putting on a front. I could not imagine living life every day with no friends. Friends are there to comfort me in times of sorrow. They encourage me when I get depressed. They are the ones I run to when I have a funny story to tell. They are the ones who I tell my greatest accomplishments to, and share my deepest cares. These are my Friends and I thank God for them.

However, sometimes in the dark of the night, when you don’t wish to wake a friend, there is my closest friend who is always there. Not only does He walk with me through the joys of my life, but also in my deepest trouble. I can call on God twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and twelve months a year, all of my life. Better yet, not only does He listen to my heart, He calms my soul. He is a good enough friend to tell me when I am about to make a mistake in life, and encourages me with His Holy Spirit when I do what’s best. What better friend could a person have?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grief to bear… What a friend in deed.

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Deuteronomy 31:21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

All too often, you hear someone say, “It’s only music” or “what harm might that do, it’s just a song?” For some reason people don’t believe music makes a big impact on our lives or on what we think or do. Today we hear many “so called” musicians who sing of killing, suicide, immoral relationships, drugs, and the list goes on and on. Don’t you think this may affect a little of the way we might think if we listen to this repeatedly. Moreover, it’s not just Rap, Rock, or Pop music. All forms of music have jumped on the sing about sin bandwagon. It’s not just the latest and so called greatest. It has been going on for a while. Still people think, “Well what can this hurt, it’s just a song, right?”

Well it doesn’t matter what you or I think. What matters most is how does God look at the role of music in our life? By looking at just one verse, we see God knew back in Moses time, (and I am sure before) music affects the thinking and memories of the Children of Israel. God didn’t ask Moses to write another book, paint a picture, or build an idol. A book might not be read, a picture can only be in one place, and a building never leaves it location. However, a song, people hear it, remember it, and take it with them in their hearts forever.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Still think music never affects you. Then what do you think of when you read this? “JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW…” Yes, we learned that favorite chorus as a child. Read it again, “JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW…” Now, that will be stuck in your head for a while. You see, music and lyrics make a big difference in our lives. What are you going to feed your heart today?

Tuesday, April 8, 2014 – Do we really have time to serve?

t-shirt BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Galatians 3:3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Work, work, work. That seems like all we ever do. Always so busy. Our place of employment wants more of our time than ever before. They want us to be dedicated to them first and anything else second. Our spouse wants, and deserves our time as well. However, we seem to have very little left after all that work. Then there’s the church. It tells us we need to be serving God by serving in His church. We know that’s true too, but how can all this be true when there are only so many hours in the day?

We somehow get the idea that in order to please God we need to be busy all the time. The truth is all of the things we do with our lives may glorify God if done for Him. Our place of employment is our mission field where we share with our friends our life in Christ. Our home is our place of encouragement and love. God gave us this for our benefit. Working for the Lord is not something you do only in church. It’s a life you live and bring with you to church. Sometimes it seems as though we forget that all we have in salvation is free. We can’t earn it or repay God for it. The gifts and talents given to you by God are to be used as one of the forms of your expression of worship in the Lords House.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Thank God today for allowing you to serve Him with ALL your life in ALL you do. We were saved by faith in Him. Let’s also live by faith in Him.

Monday, April 7, 2014 – “The Apple of the Eye!”

2014 CFR Banners 2 only  BACK TO LIHW HOMEPAGE

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

“The Apple of the Eye!” What does that really mean? Well I went out on the Internet and asked that question and here is what I received back from GoEnglish.com.

The apple of your eye is that person (or thing) that you care for the most. Example: “He sure does love his little girl.” Reply: “She’s the apple of his eye.” Example: “You got me the bracelet I wanted!” Reply: “Yes, I knew it was the apple of your eye.”

The original meaning of the apple of your eye is the pupil, or the round black spot in the middle of the eye. It is as if that person’s reflection can be seen in the pupil (“apple“) of your eye. Example: “Everyone knew they would get married someday. She was always the apple of his eye.”

It makes you feel good to look at the person who is the apple of your eye. From a famous love song: “You are the apple of my eye. That’s why I’ll always be with you.”

Using this definitions, is God’s word the Apple of Thine Eye? Is it, “What you care for most?” Is your life a reflection of God’s Word? Do you feel good looking into Gods Word? God wants His word to be the Apple of our Eye.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today as you read through the verses on the pages of the Holy Bible remember God is speaking through that page to your heart. He more than anything wants to be the “Apple of Thine Eye.”
