Fill The House

April 23
Daily Reading – Judges 20-21 / Luke 14:16-35

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Imagine you’ve been invited to a big fancy dinner. Worldwide dignitaries are coming. Your favorite sports figures and movie stars will also be there. You’re told you can bring as many people as you can, but there’s a deadline, so you have to do so quickly. You ask, “When is the deadline.” To which they reply, “We can’t tell you, so get busy right away, it may be soon.” WOW!

Today God is preparing the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Jesus Christ is being honored and you’re invited to come. Not only that, you may bring as many people as you can, but there’s an undisclosed deadline. The dinner is almost ready. God wants His house full and is asking you to fill it. No one will be turned away if they accept the invitation.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Who are you going to call and invite?
When will you begin?

God Doesn’t Like Show Offs

April 22
Daily Reading – Judges 18-19 / Luke 14:1-15

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Look at me, look at me mommy. Little children love to have people watch them as they show off their newfound talents of walking, running, riding a bike and so on. How cute they are and we as parents are so proud. We ought to be happy for them. They are growing up, learning many skills they will need in life.

Sadly for some, they never grow up. They never get out of the show off stage in life. As adults, they’re still saying look at me with their actions and sometimes words. Often they’ll embarrass themselves and others with their bragging. When we made God our Lord, we need to stop showing off. If God decides to display our talents for his good, He will. Until then, we need to be content serving a loving almighty God.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

If you feel like you have to show off,
will you show off your God?

All The Children Of The World

April 21
Daily Reading – Judges 15-17 / Luke 13:18-35

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 13:29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

We have a world that is in chaos. Wars are being fought daily all around us. Crime and deadly diseases plague our nations. People cannot agree on why we have all the weather phenomena’s and argue over the data. It seems that we might never get along.

However, in today’s verse it says people from the east, west, north, and south will all sit down together in the kingdom of God. Yes, there will be people from every nation and every race sitting together. All with the love of God in their hearts toward Him, and toward one another. We are all God’s children. It reminds me of a little song that we sang in Sunday School. Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Will you pray today for all the children of the world?

Except Ye Repent

April 20
Daily Reading – Judges 12-14 / Luke 13:1-17

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 13:2-3 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

There’s a teaching in some churches today called the “Grace Movement.” The belief being taught, is that it’s by Grace you are saved and nothing else. While I do believe Ephesians 2:8 when it says “For by grace are ye saved”, the next two words say, “through faith.” It’s our faith in Jesus who died on the cross to pay the price for our sin that saves us. Not our faith in Jesus, that He was Jesus. If that were true, He would not have had to die. Jesus did not come to die to free you from sin so you could remain in your sin. To repent means to turn away or turn around. Friend, “Except ye repent,” turn away from your sin and to Jesus, you will die in your sin. Jesus and sin are not in the same place. Our verse today says, “ye shall likewise perish.”

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Are you walking toward Jesus, or toward Sin?

Blessed Is The Servant

April 19
Daily Reading – Judges 11 / Luke 12:42-59

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 12:42-43 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

What is today’s passage in Luke 12 all about? Some look at it with fear of the outcome if they don’t perform just right. Some read it and think it’s about punishment toward the slackers. While others read over it thinking, it doesn’t apply to them at all. I read it maybe just a bit different. I’m hung up on, “Blessed is that Servant.”

I really am not concerned about not being prepared. I settled that when I asked Jesus into my heart. I’m not even worried about not being rewarded. I’m just thrilled I’m in the story. “Blessed be the Servant.” It’s my absolute privilege to serve the God of all the universe, and now He says to me I am to be blessed. I’m not trying to be a wise guy, but I’m already blessed.

Plastic Often Proves It

April 18
Daily Reading – Judges 9-10 / Luke 12:16-41

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

It used to be said, “Show me someone’s checkbook and I’ll show you what they truly love.” Today however people don’t use checkbooks so much. Most people use debit and credit cards. Today, plastic would be a better proof. Then again, with technology growing the way it is, we may not use them much longer.

The idea is still the same. We spend money on what we truly love. Thankfully, God does not ask for all the money He’s given to us. However, he did ask for all our heart. Today’s verse just restated the obvious. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

So have you looked at your financial statement lately?
What does it say about your heart?

You Can Win, And Still Lose

April 17
Daily Reading – Judges 7-8 / Luke 12:1-15

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Man today buys and buys more and more things. So much that they rent places apart from home just to store all the things. Our closets are full, basements packed, garages flowing over, sheds filled to the roof and we still think we need more stuff. Then later in life, we downsize. We sell off all those things at a fraction of the purchase price to a younger person who thinks they need it all too. I wonder sometimes if it’s not all the same stuff just floating form house to house.

The end of the matter is, when we die, none of that stuff will even matter. Jesus said our real life should not be filled with stuff, our life should be filled with HIM.

April 16 – Let God Wash The Inside
Daily Reading – Judges 5-6 / Luke 11:29-54

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 11:39-40 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

We may have all read this before, and wondered why it is that the Pharisees didn’t clean the inside as well as the outside. When we think of a cup, we might think that’s possible, but how do you clean the inside of a platter? The answer is obvious, you can’t.

When men try to clean the inside of their lives on their own they also find that obviously they can’t. Only God can clean the inside of our lives. Only a repentant humbled heart, yielded to God can be cleaned. We can wash the exterior, but only God can wash the sin away from the heart. According to 1 John 1:9, we all need to be run through God’s rinse cycle on occasion.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Have you let God wash the inside of your life,
making it fresh, and clean lately?

April 15 – The Best Gift
Daily Reading – Judges 3-4 / Luke 11:1-28

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Children sometime will open a gift at Christmas and suddenly get all excited. That is until they see some other child open a different gift and then they want that one instead. Even adults often think what someone else received was the better gift than theirs.

However the greatest gift ever given was given by God. It’s the same gift for every believer. It’s the gift of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit indwelling us we are not saved. The Holy Spirit empowers us with our spiritual gift. The Holy Spirit comforts and convicts us as needed. The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayer life and so much more. This is truly be best gift anyone can ever receive.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Did you get your gift from God?
Did you thank Him?

Active, Busy, And Lonely

April 14
Daily Reading – Judges 1-2 / Luke 10:25-42

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 10:40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Poor Martha, she felt as many of us who serve the Lord has felt at times. Nobody’s helping me. Nobody cares. Nobody see’s the work that needs to be done. I’m all alone. God why don’t you make them help me.

Well there is a lot of apathy toward the work of the Lord today, that’s true. Yet sometimes we miss the best, doing the good. We begin to look at the work more than we look at the one we’re working for. We get our eyes off the Saviour and on our labour. Doing the work of the Lord is necessary. However, doing the work and forgetting why is exhausting. At times, we must stop, rest in His arms, and reconnect with Him before we move on. When we do, we realize we’re never alone, Jesus is always with us, and always helping.
