Daily Reading – Proverbs 4-5 / 2 Corinthians 2
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
2 Corinthians 2:1-2 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness. For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
You look across a room and see someone yawn. It’s not long until you find yourself yawning as well. You weren’t even tired, until you saw them yawn. However, the power of suggestions is contagious.
Paul says to the church in Corinth, if I make you sad then how can you uplift me? If you are sad, then you’re going to make me sad. In 1 Cor. 2:3 he says, “that my joy is the joy of you all,” or, when you’re happy, you make me happy. When we criticize and hurt others with whom we fellowship, their sorrow will in turn cause our own sadness. Yet, if we encourage, and bring joy into others life, we in turn uplift ourselves. Joy is contagious.
WHAT DO YOU SAY:
Who might you encourage today?
It may just be the joy you need tomorrow.
