Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 27-29 / Acts 8:26-40
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 8:30-31 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
With all the versions of the bible out there, which all claim to simplify and modernize the language, you would think that the bible would be totally distributed to everyone and completely understood. Yet today there is more bible illiteracy than you might imagine. Many people have a bible; some even read it on occasion. Yet they don’t seem to understand it.
Philip came upon a man who had God’s word, was reading it, but did not understand it. He asked Philip, “sit with me,” or in other words, teach me. There are many people today just like him. People who have a bible. People you could help in understanding, but they’re afraid to ask. Maybe all they need is someone to ask them a bible question and take time to sit with them.
WHAT DO YOU SAY:
Who do you know that you might ask?
