If We Can, We Will

June 30
Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 10-12 / Acts 5:1-28

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 5:28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The disciples were tossed in prison with guards placed outside. Yet God decided to release them. Did He harm the guards, or jail? No. In Acts 5:23 we find the jail and locks untouched, and the guards not harmed. Yet the prisoners were free.

Those who had put them in jail brought them before the court and said, we told you not to preach about this Jesus. Then unwittingly they said; “and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” As I read it, I thought, YES! That’s exactly what we want to do. To have the blood of Jesus applied to the hearts of man. I know that’s not what they meant, yet, I’d say, if we can, we will.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Will you pray that the sin cleansing blood of Christ
would be applied to all those who will hear?

Let’s Shake Things Up

June 29
Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 7-9 / Acts 4:23-37

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The way things are in the world today, many Christians have all but given up. It seems the feeling is that no matter what we do, no one wants to listens. It is the downtrodden sense that we truly cannot make a difference in this dark world. I TOTALLY DISAGREE!

When we pray, sincerely getting on our knees before a Holy God, someone is listening. He’s always listening. Not only is He listening, He can make a difference. When the disciples and those with them united in prayer, it says the place where they were was shaken. My friend God can still shake things up if we will just pray. Let’s shake things up, shall we?

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Will you earnestly pray for change
in our churches and society today?

Who Will You Listen Too?

June 28
Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 6 / Acts 4:1-22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 4:18-19 And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People in the United States today are concerned over what they can and cannot say about their faith in Christ. We have leaders who claim to be Christians, yet do very little to support the Christian values of this society. Even our school boards and others government officials say we cannot talk about our faith. Truth is, yes we can. We have just as much rights to freedom of speech as does anyone else.

They tried the same thing with the disciples in Acts. Sternly saying you can’t talk about Jesus. Their answer should be our answer. There answer was, who do you think we should listen to, you or God?

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Who do you think we should listen too?

It’s A Good Formula

June 27
Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 4-5 / Acts 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 3:19-20 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Today we see products on the shelves of the Super Markets that say, “New and Improved.” That can’t be. WHY? Well, if it’s NEW, it never existed before. How then can something that never existed be improved? Another claim is, “Advanced Formula.” Evidently, what they had before wasn’t good enough so they’ve either taken some things out or added a few things in.

The formula for Salvation has never changed. WHY? Because it can’t be improved upon. We can’t add anything to make it better or take anything away without it failing. It’s a good formula as is. Repent, ask God to forgive you of your sin. Be converted, put faith in Jesus as the total payment for all your sin. Then watch for His return.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Why change a formula like that?

Two Days, Three Times

June 26
Daily Reading – 2 Chronicles 1-3 / Acts 2:37-47

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 2:46-47 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I had someone ask, “Why do you have to go to church twice on Sunday and again on Wednesday?” My answer is this, you don’t have to go at all. Still, I can’t understand why a Christian wouldn’t want to go as often as they have an opportunity to go. Spending time with other believers should be a desire, not a duty. Being at church gives you opportunities to share your spiritual gifts with others, and be blessed by God. When I was young, it was referred to as, “Three to Thrive.” Sunday AM, PM, and Wednesday to recharge.

Today’s verses say they went DAILY to fulfill Jewish customs, and then met someplace else to fellowship and praise God.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Has going to church two days a week
for three services somehow become a chore?

Whosoever

June 25
Daily Reading – 1 Chronicles 27-29 / Acts 2:1-36

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I know the King James Bible has some older words that we no longer use in modern English. I disagree with those who say it’s too hard to read. Actually, with just a little help occasionally from a dictionary, we can understand every word. Today though, I want you to look at just one word. It’s the word, “Whosoever.”

This is not a hard word for anyone to understand. Whosoever means, well, it means whosoever, anyone, everyone, and everybody. This verse plainly says if anyone, everyone, anybody, whosoever, will call on the name of the Lord, they will be saved. Anyone who by faith trusts that Jesus is God’s Son who died for their sins and rose again, can be saved if they will just ask.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Why do we make things so complicated?

It’s The Last Thing He Said

June 24
Daily Reading – 1 Chronicles 24-26 / Acts 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 1:7-8 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

When I was younger, at times my parents would tell me to do a few things while they were gone. If, and when they were not done, I remember hearing, “Why isn’t this done? Couldn’t you remember to do this? It was the last thing that I told you.” When they returned it also was the first thing that they inspected. It wasn’t that I didn’t remember, I was just putting it off.

The last thing Jesus told us to do before ascending back to Heaven was to be a witness unto the uttermost parts of the earth. When he returns, I can imagine it will be the first thing that He inspects. I sure don’t want to hear Jesus say, “Why isn’t this done? Couldn’t you remember to do this? It was the last thing that I told you.”

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Are we busy doing what He asked?

Do It Again

June 23
Daily Reading – 1 Chronicles 21-23 / John 21

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Jesus was crucified, placed in a tomb, rose from the dead, yet the disciples went back fishing. That’s what they did before and it was familiar to them. Then Jesus shows up and asks, “are you catching anything?” Not knowing it was Jesus they yell back, “No!” He says, “Cast on the right side of the ship.” They did and caught a net full. They immediately realized, it was Jesus. Why? Well that story is familiar. In Luke 5, when they first met Jesus He told them where to fish and they caught a boatload. Here He said, do it again.

When Jesus tells us to fish for souls, we ought to listen. Just because we didn’t win someone one time, maybe Jesus is just saying, Do it again.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

Are you still fishing for men as Jesus said to do?

That You Might Believe

June 22
Daily Reading – 1 Chronicles 19-20 / John 20:19-31

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In our passage today, Jesus says to Thomas in verse 27, “be not faithless, but believing.” Thomas then addresses Jesus as His Lord and God. By doing so, he was saying he accepted Jesus as his Lord, and Saviour, and as God. That’s what Jesus wanted for him, and for you and me. He says so in verse 29 when He says, “blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

Our verses today tell us Jesus did a lot more than we ever read about. Yet there’s enough in the pages of scripture for anyone who desires to be saved, to be able to believe in Christ. Jesus wants us to have a real life through His name.

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

  What more could we want
than what the Creator of all things could supply?

I Need To Know Where He Is

June 21
Daily Reading – 1 Chronicles 17-18 / John 20:1-18

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

John 20:13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In John 20:13 and 15 Mary is asked the same question. Once by angels in the tomb where Jesus had been, and once by Jesus Himself. “Why weepest thou?” To paraphrase her answer it was, “I don’t know where Jesus is.” She was heartbroken because she did not know exactly where He was.

Oh how horrible it would be yet today if we did not know where our Saviour was. Many other religions have a theory of the demise of their spiritual leaders. However, we know exactly where Jesus is today. It says in Romans 8:34 “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”

WHAT DO YOU SAY:

We know exactly where Jesus is today.
Isn’t that a comforting bit of wisdom?
